Good job fellas, I made it out but on the west coast. We sacrificed the day to go explore Crystal River for when grouper opens. We ran completely blind but marked a bunch of spots and found them. Damn FWC is running a 37 cat with twin 350s over there. Rumor has it, its a gen 1 aluminum Freeman. Not really sure how true that is but I was told that by the officer and locals. Its a lonnnng day to go from coast - coast - coast

J Lightning posted a sweet kill shot from his weekend out of the port. Maybe he will post it here as well.

Sounds like the Fincat they are known to run in that area. I went out of CR on the first. It was to cold and the Blackjack I was in airlocked the livewell and killed all the bait. Nothing was biting.

You should of called me and I could have helped you get on the AJs.
Yep, that big Fincat will drop in on you out of nowhere if he sees you offshore with everything closed. They know what my boat looks like and usually don't mess with me as they know I'm just out there shooting mangos and hogs this time of year. Right now the vis is like mud and the water temps are in the 50s so everything is safe.
Long day... yep. Now you know how I feel going over to the east side.:D

Yea, looks like you are correct. " Fincat FWC " google search brought me to a list of FWC vessels and it showed two smaller Fincats that they use in CR and I believe Pensacola. But the CR one is listed as a smaller so I am guessing maybe they upgraded since that site was updated.

You guys need to give me a heads up so I can let you know if it's worth the drag over here. This is the worst it's been in a while as the late hurricane really screwed up the water and with the cold it is hard to make a day of it H+L, even with live bait. Wrecks and high relief is your only hope as the big AJs are in and will eat if you find them. Other than that you will be swarmed with ARS but you guys already have that without driving so far.

Yeah, they got a the 37' a few months ago as the smaller boats were a little uncomfortable to take to the grounds. The 37 is pretty fast with the 350s but the 30s had 300s and they were spooky fast. Did they have their dog with them?

We trailered up from the Orlando area. We basically tossed a coin between CR and Hernando Beach. My buddies FIL gave him a bunch of numbers for CR that we have been wanting to try. Fish or no fish I wasnt stuck at the office so it was win. Good scouting trip. We where only in a 22 foot bay boat with only my hand held VHF. I didnt want to get to far out so we stayed within 20 miles or so.

No dog and I told them to ditch those 350s as I heard them way before I seen them

They used to have a fincat with twin inboard diesels on the lift in the cross FL canal by the FWC station near Inglis. Capt was a nice guy, pulled me over once to look at my boat.

Yeah, that was the Guardian and they worked the grounds and to the north with it. It spent more time on the lift than anything as it required a 3 to 4 man crew to leave the dock.

Sheepshead bite has started to pick up with this warmer weather. Got the kids on some nice ones around the docks in NSB and Ponce this past weekend. I was using live sandfleas. Hopefully the weather holds nice for us this weekend to get out on some hoos.

I’m going to hit it hard Monday if the weather holds. Probably spend most of the morning HST and then blister out to see if we can find a decent weed line or rip. Forecast is calling for a slight chance of rain with an overcast sky.... my favorite kind of day to fish!

kmoose and muggin mullett, you may have the same charts as I have, but just in case, I'm showing water temps for tomorrow 88degrees heading out of Ponce at 1250 ft to be 76.1 degrees.

I fish out of Sebastian, but I do enjoy watching your threads. I will be fishing tomorrow ,

The forecast shows warmer water moving north rather quickly. There's a 5 degree temp difference between Sebastian and Ft pierce in the same depth of water.

I'll be in 450 ft tomorrow with temp at 76.3 degrees.

I believe the dolphin are out there, we just have to find the water temp, and bait . Last 2 times out , I saw 1 flyer in 90 ft, and on another trip, no flyers at all even out to 600ft.

Good luck, safe trip, I'll report results and conditions tomorrow night or mon. Capt. Billy/Right Stuff

kmoose, thank you for the invite. I've got a crew all set. But one of these days I'll drive up and fish with you.

Okay, just checked It's now 79.1 degrees temp in 525 ft due east of Sebastian . The warmer water is moving no quickly.

Went both Saturday and Sunday
Saturday took the kids and some friends for a meat trip. Crushed the Seabass, lanes, and had about a 30lb cobia spit the hook right at the boat (Ugh). Caught a big bull redfish in about 70ft . And also caught about 35 stud reds as usual. Very fun trip
Sunday went out for the Wahoo HS trolling all day. Got one strike that got off. We trolled from all over from 100-160ft for 8 hours. Only had the 1 strike. I had some friends go north a little more and ended up with 3 at the end of the day. Those boys out of St. Aug and Jax are whacking them for sure. I got home and FB was blowing up with all of the reports.

Got out today at dawn and trolled for hoos for 3 hours with one short strike. Decided to go find som fins an ended up finding a 4 degree temp rip with some patchy weed.ended up with 4 nice schoolies and 2 gaffers. Rip was in 1100’.

Took an inshore buddy out and he got his first bull.

We also had a marlin come up right behind the boat and take a swipe at one of the schoolies we where dragging in under power. Not monster but it would have been pretty sporty if he would have picked up on one of the short set 50 wides.
