Fished last year around this time at both pelican flats and 8a and could only catch red snappers and blues. Bait we were using was mainly squid and sardines.

What bait are you guys using to catch mangroves and kings?

Thanks!

This weekend is looking like it might be alright again, although there is some rain in the forecast. Anyone thinking of heading out?

Oh man, weather is looking nice. Got plans Saturday -- but hopefully it stays in check thru the holiday weekend so I can sneak out sun/mon.

In general, how accurate do you guys find these wave height predications? 12-17 MPH winds and <3' waves?

It's more about direction than speed. You can see that as the wind picks up the wave period also tightens up -- but the wind is going to be shifting around to the other direction causing there to be more of a chop than a swell.

Humpback whale spotted 3 miles out yesterday, that'd be cool to see!

Heading out tomorrow morning, but not sure what to aim for this time. Anyone hear reports of rays or cobia yet? Seems too early to hit the troll for mahi. Could always do some bottom jigging I guess.

I went out of Ponce last weekend and on the way out saw 2 rays jump a few miles out. Didn't stop to investigate. The azaleas are really starting to bloom here, so I'm guessing it's time.

Did they change the forecast dramatically? Just yesterday I thought it was 1-2 at 11 seconds.

Not sure what to make of the 4 second period they are calling now on Saturday.

.SATURDAY...SOUTH WINDS 10 TO 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 3 FEET WITH A
DOMINANT PERIOD 4 SECONDS. A MODERATE CHOP ON THE INTRACOASTAL
WATERS. SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON.
