Sunday results- holy hell it was a nautical day

It took us about an hour or so to get out to 120 ft. With the conditions I decided to do some HST for wahoo from 120 ft to 160 ft. Nothing. Around 160 ft I put out the spread of bally's in seas between 4 to 5 ft. We tried to get out past 210 ft, but would get chased out with rain and 5 to 6 ft conditions. So we kept zig zagging between 160 to 210 with flying fish EVERYWHERE. Marked big fish all over the place down deep. Found a shrimp boat anchored up in 160 trolled around him and nothing.

We ended the day with 4 short strikes where the back 1/3 was cut clean off the bally's. Saw 3 boats all day. A CH 27 or 31 I believe, another center console looked like a navy Pro Line maybe, and I think a Freeman with a darker hull.

There was little to no radio chatter on 78. Only heard one fish a Blackfin Tuna caught..

I was out there too in a 32 fountain- also did a lap around the shrimp boat. And also tried the same depth plus spent some time over the cones. Slow fishing- caught three mahi- one gaffer. Had a couple solid hits that came unglued. We got the gaffer about 1/4 mile west of the shrimp boat.

BMan,thanks for the report. Can you tell me where the cones are? I understand that is a bottom feature, are there co=ordinates marking the south and north boundaries or do you find them at a certain depth out east of the port?

It’s a ridge at about 280-300 ft. It runs from Fort Pierce to Daytona. If you go east you’ll cross it.

Default A little bumpy & Wet, but...

But they were out there. Headed out of PC Monday in the GB, straight East to 220'. Found Weeds, rips and flyers plus a frigate bird. Boated 4 gaffer mahi, one slinger, lost two nice ones at the boat. Also picked up a couple of triple tail and, oh yeah, a six pack of small sharks. All on naked and skirted bali and squid rigs. Really fun day on the water with my buddy Ron.

Thanks for the report...I bet that GB handled the bumps very nicely for you.
