Unless I am in a tree stand, my spare time will be spent on the bottom. Time to give the rods and reels some much needed rest and tune up the spear guns. Here is one from Saturday, part of a limit out of Sebastian and 2 slipper lobsters to go with them.

I plan on going out for a little bit tomorrow. Wanting to see if any Mahi are running. Caught a few two weeks ago.

Also may check on a few spots for Cobia.

very good.
Saw birds at the 140’ mark dropped. 4 too luers and one diver. Triple hook up twic in 15 minutes.

Landed 2 mahi and 1 king. Lost one mahi while pulling him up without using a gaff. Too big of s Hury by myself. Lost another mahi bc the hooks crimp failed on s brand new pink and white Williamson lure.

Should of stayed there. Hit another king. And wanted to go out deaper and find s weed line. Weed line sucked Caught another king and a Cuda on it.

I had s wahoo hit a blue and black plug but he took it with him after about 4 minutes. He had a a nasty jump and cut the 120lb mono leader.

Saturday was slick w/2-3' rollers, light winds to edge of the stream. Perfect conditions.

awesaome.
3’ rollers 12-13 seconds apart. My boat is a 23’8” CC and I ran 30-33mph the whole way out to the 20mile weather bouy.

Ran same when we picked up to run to the Gulf Stream at 550’ out.

On the way back in I ran 35 mph back no waves bumps or anything. Even though you could see the rollers they were smooth.

After having lunch at Icahbod's Melbourne Harbor, 3 of us were just coming back into Indian River channel just south of the Melbourne causeway, when we saw approximately 8 to 10 boats fishing on the east side of the channel and perhaps 200 to 300 yards south of the causeway.
This was at about 3pm on a mon. afternoon. Something was going on. Does any one know what was schooling and biting in that area yesterday? It struck me as unusual , as the action seemed very concentrated. We did not venture closer , as we did not want to disturb an obvious schooling bite. Thank you, Capt. Billy/Right Stuff

Thanks! Appreciate the report, can't believe I missed it, not sure what I was thinking. For some dumb reason, I decided to not go out....

Capt Billy, saw the same thing driving over the causeway, which I do several times a day. That was very odd and had me wondering what was going on as well.

Probably red fish or black drum may have been concentrated in the channel.

its not the wave size as much as how far apart. 3’ rollers 10-15 seconds are very easy to cruise with. 3’ at 5 seconds apart beat you up.

Ive been out in 5’ roller 12-15 seconds apart and it’s like nothing’s there except every now and then you get a bump.

For me, I’ve learned always adjust to the dominant period not just size.

But ill be in the keys tomorrow till monday.
