So if I dock next to you and play thrash metal as loud as I want, you wouldn't complain? My youngest is five and no he doesn't listen to "filthy music". When what someone else does affects you then its a problem. My older kids listen to all kinds of music (filth and no filth) but they would be respectful it was intruding on others.

hard to enjoy myself if your 'music' is so loud I can't think. And if I am staying on my boat, then I would expect the opportunity to enjoy myself at a reasonable time. But, common courtesy is not as common as one would hope. If folks insist on keeping me up at night, I expect they won't mind if I wake them at 5am.

you can be playing lawrence welk or chopin for all intents and purposes but if it is so loud that it affects your neighbor in a public setting such as a marina, then it is a problem on many levels. the problem, of course, is further magnified when the loud music is also vulgar or filthy.

I ask this with all sincerity. If I were parked next to you, and decided I was going to hang a weight on the rope that blows my air horn, so it blows non stop for hours at a time, would you not have a problem with it? Are you really going to sit here and tell us, since I like the sound of it, that you wouldn't have a problem with it?

For some reason, this thread reminds me of the one a few years ago about helping people who are stranded in the middle of the ocean on a dead boat. I imagine the same people posting in this thread that there's nothing wrong with playing the music, are the same people who said they would leave the people drifting at sea, because it's not their problem.

If anyone thinks it's ok to play music laced with vulgarities in a mixed crowd especially with children around they have a giant lack of human decency.

I love music, especially when it's loud. I love to party and drink and especially like when I can play music that everyone can enjoy to create a party atmosphere. There is always a time and place and you can always find a grumpy bastard. If you're the guy who bitches about people having a good time and playing loud(maybe not your favorite brand, but tasteful) during reasonable hours then you suck almost as badly as the person blaring profane music at 1am.

Question, are most of you staying on your boat at OBB? If you had a room would the music keep you up? Asking because I've only checked in there and headed out. Would like to bring the wife on a trip but would be getting a room. If it's gonna be an issue, she can rough it at Bootle.

I've always stayed on the boat and this thread is the first time I have heard about an issue. Yes, everyone parties there, but its been reasonable in the past. Hopefully it will be this Memorial Day. Kids are always running around.

Usually there's a bunch of kids on every busy weekend. OBB has to be one of the easiest places to bring the family by boat.

I think most would agree, if there is a dock party that the majority of the dock is hanging out, having a party then louder music from one boat is fine. It's a party and I am sure all would be invited. When it is 5 people one on boat, and you have to keep turning the music down to hear each other talk, at midnight, then maybe that is just a little bit too much. Lets face it, your just showing off at that point. We get it, your stereo is loud. When it is 8am, you are with only your GF, and she is bootie shaking on the dock, then maybe that is a little too much. I get it, your stereo is loud, who cares. Respect is earned, not given and they have no respect for anyone but themselves.
