This is just so wrong.."pink box".

I really appreciate all the comments, especially the negative ones. I know of nowhere else that I could get the kind of honesty you find on ThT. That said, we will leave the house as is for now. but will be getting quotes and making color selections for a re paint if she doesn't sell soon.

Default Inof on pink house

For those of you who asked, Pink House is listed at $620,000. Here's the link:

I hate to say it but at first I didn't mind the color not knowing the price but at $620k it better be painted whatever color the buyer wants. Maybe I just don't understand the market down there?

Leeroyjenkins,

Exactly. That's why we will have a color chart and a quote from a reputable painter at the house!

Pink? No...no... it doesn't look too pink... but I bet Peter Sellers would like it if he were alive.

While I agree with you, the location, on a nice day, appears to be 3 houses and 30ish minutes from potential magic! I should have prefaced this with "Way out of my league".

While it's no big deal to repaint it there will be some potential buyers who cannot get past the color. I would have this conversation with my Realtor and get their opinion.

Every single sentence Ft Myers Ken wrote should be taken to heart by the OP. The most important sentence might be the last one. Your realtor should tell you that the chances of selling a home are optimized if the color palettes are neutral. Pink turns off many people and still others cannot get past imagining themselves living in a pink house. It might be wrong, but it is reality.

OP, if your realtor will not advise you to change the exterior, what else is he/she not telling you? Is the interior too cluttered? Does your home smell like pets or cigarette smoke? Are your interior walls painted black or some other color that turns people off? Do the doors open the wrong way? Look, you and I do not see our homes like potential buyers see them. That is the job of the realtor- to make our homes the most attractive to potential buyers in a cost effective manner. Your realtor is failing you.

Here is a cheat: Walk or ride a couple blocks/miles away. Take a pic of the houses with the prettiest, neutral color schemes. Take pics, match the colors at Sherwin Williams, and paint away.

Get that house sold now, before the market flattens.

When we bought our house the sellers told us at closing that they just had it painted. We laughed because we hated the color and already decided on repainting as soon as we moved in. It's only paint. Anyone that would pass on a house because of paint color is a fool.

Maybe because I'm healthy it's not a big deal. I do see a lot of decrepit old yankee transplants down here nowadays that wouldn't be able to do the job their selves.

your poll is worded poorly. Is it a turn off? yes. Would it keep me from buying? no.

OP- I had not seen the listing because I did not click on the link you posted. I am currently in the Keys and was flipping through a real estate guide and "voila". On a spread of multiple listings that hot pink really makes it stand out from the rest. That being said, I agree with the majority of responders here.....I like it but I think it will limit your field of buyers whether it's a simple fix or not.

$620K?????????????? Holy sh*t!

Sorry OP, no offense, but is that the going rate for a home in the keys? I thought it might be the color, but now I'm thinking the price. Am I missing something? Is it on the water?

The pink has got too go. Although it is a fun color for the keys it is a turn off to most buyers. The buyers are not island people they are people living in the north looking for future retirement and rental/vacation property. Your realtor should have already discussed this with you. Keep it a neutral color. If the new buyer wants to paint it a bright color that is there option.

Seems right on for the Keys. Paradise has a price.
