Default What's the ocean really like - Boynton/Boca/Lauderdale??

the marine forecast for this week reads like it's a shit show out there. But the webcams don't make it look half as bad as the report. Anyone been out yesterday or today that can give some first hand knowledge? Thinking about heading out tomorrow and/or friday.

You have a north wind gusting to 30. It's going to be a wet, rough ride. Even in a sportfish I would probably stay home but if you have the itch....get out there and scratch it. Wear your foul weather gear and inflatable vest. Good luck.

buddy of mine went out yesterday (36 yellowfin) and sent me some videos. It looked a little rough but nothing I wouldn't be out in, he said it was nicer in the morning but started picking up late afternoon. Videos looked like 3-5ft seas pretty close together. They caught a couple sails from 9-1pm

I can tell you that you missed the window which was earlier this week, tomorrow through friday will be pretty damn rough

Not sure what you guys are looking at, everything I see is total blowout through Sunday, windfinder and NOAA.

And yea, that BBI pic is showing the exact area that would be in a protected lee on a NE wind.

just trying to stay positive rather than sink into a full blown lack of fishing depression partyb ;-( this weather sucks!! no doubt. especially for a long weekend! just hoping it will blow through or mother nature will fall back asleep, get drunk or something.

It's sloppy straight out for sure...but doesn't look 6-8 with the occasional 10 as per the marine forecast.

Forecast isn't the beach break... stiff NE wind and by the time you get to the stream I'm sure it's every bit of that.

I flew back and forth to Miami a few times this past weekend and just a few miles offshore from Palm Beach south to Miami was rough looking with large whitecaps. Could see bigger Sporties throwing some decent spray as they cruised.

I hear ya, believe me nobody more pissed off then I about it. That right there on the BBI cam is a complete shart show once you get in it. It's going to be better closer in then the forecasts, but not by much. Great weekend, probably, to stay inshore. See the nobody on the pier, that's not good.

6 to 8 will not be in front of the inlet. Go 2-3 miles out and there it will be.

It IS a shit show. I elected to intercoastal it to stewart and its windy as heck. My cousin went out in their 60'er today and he said 12' and they had 3 sick crew. He said they were the only boat out other than one that came out and put up a kite for about an hour.
