I forgot in my last post. are there any good places to eat that locals go to? If not the names of good places to eat in the keys? I will be vising the entire seaboard so it does not matter if it is Key West up to Key Largo

The Green Turtle Inn in Islamorada is closed. Try Uncles, just south of there.

Cuban food, 900 Catharine in Key west, cannot remember the name, Cash only no CC
Mango Mommas Cudjo Key I think
Key Colony Inn in Key Colony, just a click N of Marathon
The Wreck and Galley, No Ac but good and large portions reasonable Grassy Key (My Favorite)
Morada Bay in Islomorada Next door to World Wide Sportsman Fine dining or on the Patio open air.
A restaurant just up from Bud and Mary's in Islomorada can't remember the name.
Little Italy on Long Key, just sold, but is still open I think. Great food prices are good and large portions.

There are others but most of the time I have been able to depend ones I have listsed

Try Frank Key's Cafe in Key Largo. This is a great place to eat...you will not be disappointed. On the Northbound side of the overland highway.....mmmm mmmmm good.

I like Papa Joe's in Islamorada. It's usually my lunch stop on the way out, and as far as I'm concerned, the northernmost place for decent Conch Fritters or Key Lime Pie.

The Oceanview Inn and Sports Pub. It's a local place in Islamorada. It's on the bay side of the hiway just north of Holiday Isle, mm 84.5. There is a small boat dock in the bay behind his place that you can tie up to and walk about 100 yds. It's a bit shallow but I have docked there in a 21 footer and I think I can get my 23 Grady in there also.

They make a great Cuban pork sandwich and of course you can get a beer if you like. It has the oldest liquor license in the Keys and lots of local color. The owner played for the Pittsburgh Steelers back in the 70's and 80's and has some memorabilia on the walls. He is usually there most days. They also have motel rooms (7) if you need a place to stay. Web site http://www.theocean-view.com/

I second the Fish House in Key Largo. Great conch chowder and Key Lime Pie. All fish dishes there are good. Also try Ballyhoo's in Key Largo.

Stay away from Crack'd Conch. Greasy, gross and lousy service. And the food is bad.

I'll 3rd The Fish House. The GF and I make it a point to eat there whenever we are in the Keys. I'll second the great key lime pie and also say that the steamed u-peel-em shrimp are really good and so is the dolphin (mahi-mahi) stuffed with crab.

I'll 4th The Fish House - great seafood and service. Best Yellowtail that's ever crossed my chompers.

BUT - it is truly a crime that no one has shone a breakfast mornin' light on The Stuffed Pig in Marathon. It's worth leaving Ft. Lauderdale at 3:00 a.m. just to eat breakfast there at sunup. C'mon, who's with me on that one?
