Dead out there again today. Went out with a livewell full of live pilchards and a couple live mullet. Drifted the pilchards and mullet. Chummed up a bunch of ballyhoo and had live ballyhoo out too. 300' all the way into the second reef. Big remoras were everywhere today and kept grabbing our pilchards. Bottom fished on wrecks and reef swith a couple short triggerfish and a couple trash fish to show for it. We did catch about a three foot blue-spotted coronetfish though, really really cool fish.

Charter boat in my lagoon trolled 7 hrs today with one dolphin in 800'. Totally dead out there.

Went out yesterday (Memorial Day), it was a bit rougher than I anticipated. I trolled for about 2 hours and all I fought were weeds caught on my line. :-(

went out last night after work....trolled around the tankers out of PE for a couple hours until dark. Saw 10+ frigates diving, feeding on bait and saw a sail free jumping. Got 1 king in the box who hit a planar line with skirted bally and was back to the docks by 9. Fun 2 hours of fishing compared to the dead weekend we just had.

Went out of PE on memorial day as well, didn't expect it to be as bumpy as it was but it wasn't bad enough to keep me from staying out. Weeds made my plan of flat lining difficult, only managed a trashcan slam of a prehistoric sized hound fish, remora, and blue runners... Tried fishing the bottom but nothing was going on. Went out to 240 to do some vertical jigging, marked several AJ's but no takers. I think the 6 pack's had been dropping lead on them all day.

Made it out Saturday and it sucked as usual, fished out to 45 miles and back with only 4 hookups and one just barely legal Mahi that got us 7 th place in a local 15 boat tourney.

I'm really considering learning golf

I am about tired of fishing out of PE. I know I'm no pro but I used to be able to go out there and bring something home every time. Even if it was a couple small Spanish Mackerel (one of my favorite eating) but now we go out and get crap. Lucky if we hook a couple Bonito.

We actually will keep a couple Bonito, my Cuban fishing buddy makes an amazing smoked fish dip out of them.

But as recently as 3-4 years ago we would go out and come back with something decent every time. Mahi, Wahoo, King. Not a boat load but all we needed to have a couple good meals.

Now we come back with nothing. Even tough to get a bonito. And we listen to 72 the entire day and all we hear is people complaining there there are no fish.

The area is fished out. My buddy has a theory that the Gulf oil spill may have had a big impact. I wouldn't doubt it.

So yeah these days we just cruise to the sand bars and party. We will try fishing maybe once every couple months.

We save the heavy fishing for when we run to Bimini. But that area isn't much better. Hell as recent as 4-5 years ago we could leave the dock in Bimini and limit out on Mahi before 10 am. Now we have to fish all day to get a few decent ones.

cool, i am off of 196th. its not always fun with him lol, especially when we are not catching fish.. he wanted to stop trolling after 2 hours, but I convinced him that we should go out to 700ft. if it is slow, he loves to cut up old bait and chum the water.

Went out yesterday. Started by chumming up some blue runners and tiny jacks for bait, then went out deeper to the weeds looking for dolphin or whatever else. Drifted these guys for a few hours and only had one school of dolphin check us out. Brought one boat side and left him in, and proceeded to catch a couple short peanuts. Beautiful blue water, weeds everywhere, but no keepers.
