Going to give a West wind full moon a shot tomorrow. I'm not expecting anything but some quiet time.

I'm thinking getting some pilchards at Haulover, try slow trolling a bit then head offshore if things are quiet. I might even high speed on my way down there in case and hoos are around. I'll be on 72 going by Lady T.

After further review, my new plan is to high speed towards the steeples then head east for mahi. Let me know what's happening on 72, and I'll return the favor, good luck.

Same here, went out about the same distance, very few scattered weeds. By 11:30 we called it quite as we had chocolate bunny ears waiting for us.

Went out trolling and caught four small black fin. Switched gears and went deep dropping around 11am, went out to 800+ for some goldentile but conditions were pretty rough out there, put a few rosie's on the boat and called it.

It was a beautiful day on the water!!

Started out yesterday finding a few frigates in 500’. Trolled by and caught a couple under sized schoolies. Came in a little and flew the kite for 4 hrs in 100’- 350’. Conditions were near perfect, blue water, flying fish everywhere, but not many fish around. Saw a couple big hammerheads cruising the surface and something huge took a kite bait and almost spooled my tld 25 before the leader snapped. I think probably one of the hammerheads although I never saw it. Got one 20” dolphin off the kite, most were so small they couldn’t even get the gog in their mouth. Pretty slow but nice day. Was surprised there weren’t more fish around.

good luck getting out. Air and Sea show this weekend. I’d assume the boat ramps are going to be packed!

PE is not somewhere I would tow my boat to target grouper. You probably will have better luck on the west coast somewhere.

I've moved to downtown Fort Lauderdale, so that's where the boat will be for the foreseeable future. Hoping to relocate it from PC this weekend. Just checking in on the grouper as it opens up tomorrow. How is the bottom fishing in general?

The further you go north or south from the inlet, the better. Learn the reef system 1st, 2nd, 3rd and small ledges beyond.Catching ballyhoos of the balls SE of the inlet in 20' it's easy.

They're here just have to put your time in. You're better off trailering to Homestead & making a day out of it.

From my post on FS forum Saturday.

Figured I'd rig some big bally to run w my big moldcraft blue and pink Chugger looking for some big fins. Get to the 52 and put em out and run the chugger on the shotgun. See some birds working and try to catch up to them...most disappear but one so I keep chasing him. 10 min and it goes off...I grab the rod from the T Top and it's slack...so I drop it back and he slams it. Come tight and....snap...30# line breaks about 3/4 way to the fish. In the distance jumps this big bull fin...a good 30 I'd estimate, tailing my moldcraft behind him. He made it a point to do this 3 times and each time he was broadside and lit up and giving us the finger.
Fished that area for a while hoping for some others but nada...in fact only had one more hit in about 500 much later...small skippy. Was all the way to the 48 line at one point. Almost no weeds past 700

Default Pe 5/14

Went out yesterday on May 14 around 7a out of Port Everglades. We ran out to about the 49 line and saw well formed big patches of seaweed (50x60ft) everywhere. The were decently lined up but to troll it you had to maneuver well. We spent most of the day trolling and patch hopping in that area. There wasn’t much around other than the weeds. There is a bit of bait underneath but only a few schoolies here and there. We fished until 12 and headed in with only one keeper (25 in.) It just seemed really dead out there.

I know this isn’t the best report but at least it will give intel. Hope the Mahi show up soon since summer is here.

If if y’all have anything to report over the next few weeks please do. I’m looking to go back out after Memorial Day weekend. I’m thinking the action will get better any time now.
