Default VOTE FOR BOATING ON NOV 4TH!

As one who has either attended boat shows or showed an interest in boating, we know that being on the water is important to you. We urgently need your help at the polls to protect key boating access points to Florida’s waterways through your support of Amendment 6.
Currently, Florida’s waterfronts are being taxed at their “highest and best use.” This means that businesses are taxed for the potential use of the land instead of the actual use.
For example, a waterfront marina on a desirable piece of waterfront land is taxed as if it were a high-end condominium or waterfront resort. These high tax burdens are forcing waterfront businesses to sell their land to developers. Often, these developers do away with boat repair facilities, dry stack storage, boat ramps and in-water slips that Florida boaters depend on.
Amendment 6 will directly benefit boaters by providing fair taxation to marinas, docks, and boat launches and ease the pressure on these businesses to shut down and sell their land.
Local waterfronts are important to boat lovers like you and are a critical part of Florida’s booming tourism industry and local economy. Boat-related businesses in Florida employ more than 220,000 people. Without Amendment 6, Florida could take a large economic hit through losses in both the marine and tourism industries.
On Election Day, vote “YES” for Amendment 6. Your vote protects boaters’ access to Florida’s marine natural resources.

I voted yes for this amendment. Hopefully people will be able to figue it out in the polls. The amendments down here are worded so poorly

I did as well. It's pretty bad when the well educated have trouble understanding the ballots.

The Spanish version probably made more sense. I had a hard time with the ballot, 15 or so for President.

Wish I would have read this thread before voting. I voted "no" thinking it was the right way to go. It was worded with double, triple, negatives. Couldn't really figure it out. Wish there was a way to change my vote. I hope other people don't "brain-fart" the way I did.

There are two sides to this one. First, you have the local tackle shop/small marina/restaurant trying to stay in business. Their property taxes should not be based on the massive project that could be built there. At the same time, I've seen where developers have bought a facility like that, and barely keep it open while they figure out what they are going to do. It can be a fine line as to who would be entitled to the break.

I voted yes to support the small guys trying to stay afloat (pun intended).
