Default Flamingo Bay hotel Lucaya

Anyone ever stay here while fishing out of Lucaya? Just trying to make sure the rooms are relatively clean and the marina is safe to leave a boat at overnight.

Consider Pelican Bay. I have not stayed at Flamingo but I like Pelican. Sabor is their poolside bar/restaurant. Nice proximity to the breakfast placed in the market, etc.

I normally stay at Pelican Bay. However, the Port Lucaya marina is closed and you have to dock at the Grand Bahamian marina across the channel. The problem is the shuttle runs between 8 and 10 and I like to leave the dock by 6:30am

I sent an email last week to Port Lucaya marina about when they might open back up but haven't heard anything back. On the FB page it closed last year for covid and hasn't reopened.

Port Lucaya closed as the docks are in pretty bad shape, and they have no land there anymore. Probably no power either. Port Lucaya market place is different ownership. A large section of sea wall collapsed last year, they have fixed it though. Port Lucaya Marina and Grand Bahama Yacht Club are commonly owned.
I need to figure out what is being called Flamino Bay, never heard of it. Ok looked it up, thats the Taino Beach resort, east of Grand Bahama Yacht club. Probably Ok.

Did you figure a way around the 8am shuttle to get going earlier?

Is the marina usable at Flamingo Bay? I'm looking for a place to stay here as well. mig888 I see you are in Hollywood. When are you thinking of making the trip over? Would be nice to find someone else to buddy across with.

i stayed there overnight a few years ago. decent clean place with lots of activity. i never feel safe in lucaya, but i found a lot of people/guests always around and i think that is helpful in reducing thefts.

No, the only way I can assure that I can get to my boat is to stay on the other side of the channel at either the Bell Channel Inn or the Flamingo Bay hotel

Weather permitting, I plan to head over 4-23

Might sound simplistic but why not unload on one side, then dock at GBYC and paddle board back across to the hotel?

Because there will be 4 or 5 of us, I don't have paddleboards, but even if I did I would not want to paddleboard back and forth at 6am and then back at 10pm.

Flamingo is a dump. Bugs everywhere, mold in ceiling and smells that way. The motels “kitchen” consists of one microwave lol
Beware of the inlet as it is shallow and full of rocks. Hit one with outboard and lost the lower unit a few years ago.

Thank you. This is the exact feedback I was looking for. Do you know anything about the Bell Channel Inn? I can dock my boat at the Grand Bahama Yacht Club.

Bell Channel Inn is a step below Flamingo.

Another option for you is the Ocean Reef Yacht Club. It is the inlet/canal 1-2 miles to the west. The condo rooms are fairly nice.

Problem with the Ocean Reef is that all the locals stay there.
Very difficult to get a reservation. I have heard good things about the place and the dockmaster and people
on the phone are really nice.
Not many choices on Grand Bahama. How about a VRBO there or on Great Harbor Cay, Berry Islands?
I just happen to know of an excellent place to stay on Great Harbor :-)

Hotel report based on a recent stay? We have been going there for years and never had an issue, granted last time was in summer 2019.

I have just read some reviews of Ocean Reef post hurricane. There are a lot of complaints about dirty water and other issues.
