Default Go-to FL Keys jigs & lures

What are some of your favorite go-to jigs and lures for the Keys? I am looking to order some in preparation for an upcoming trip in April.

Everything that swims pretty much. Dolphin, AJs, mackerel, grouper, etc. I am currently familiarizing myself with the regulations/permits, etc.

Almost everything caught in the keys has some aspect of a live or at least fresh bait involved. Between live shrimp, pilchards, ballyhoo, Bonita, other baitfish and squid, you will have most things covered. Learn how to catch and rig ballyhoo or buy them already rigged and you will be on your way. I wouldn’t buy a lot for one trip. Spend your money on a local charter and you will learn more than looking at 10 years of magazines or YouTube videos. Good luck.

Live bait is your best bet. But I never leave the dock without a white bucktail on a good rod for casting or deep dropping.

Don't waste money on the Internet. When you get here walk into the "Tackle Shop" in Marathon, FL. Ask Chris what is working and buy a couple of each. I owned 1000's of lures when I fished in NY, down here I use 2.

Another vote for the Tackle Box in Marathon, if your trip takes you that far.

Chris has been helpful to me when I’ve been through there.

I plan on hitting some local tackle stores when I get there for sure! I am going to Islamorada, but I can definitely make the trip to the Tackle Box. Thanks for the tip.
