Default Marco Trip Advice

Headed to Marco for a week in late March. Never been there. Need some help! Staying on the water (Angler Court). Bringing my 17’ bay boat. Will take any suggestions.....

1. Where to eat.
2. Where to store my trailer
3. Where to visit on the water (sun and fun....family friendly)
4. Any fishing tips (what to target, baits, general areas, etc)
5. Anything else you feel like sharing

Thanks in advance.

What kind of places are you looking to eat at? Accessible by water or in general? For trailer storage you might try **** Key marina on Goodland, no knowledge if they do this or not. Keewaydin is the place everyone hangs out at for sandbar activities. The tip of Tigertail beach at the mouth of the Marco river is another. Take a ride down to the Dome house's at Cape Romano and bring your rods as there's some good fishing there. As far as fishing and bait, shrimp is used all year long and catches nearly everything. There should be some live bait available if you can throw a cast net also. There's a new bait shop at the intersection of Barfield and San Marco road that carries a variety of baits and Mike will give you some good intel on where and what to target. If you need any tackle, right across the street from them is Sunshine Ace hardware store.

From Angler Court you will be out in the Marco River. There's decent fishing in the River and in a 17' boat you should be fine to access it. If you head to the NW you'll see the Marco Bridge and be able to access Isles of Cari and a few waterfront places in Marco - Snook Inn, Dolphin Tiki. To the SE you'll head towards Goodland and can visit Stan's, Little Bar and the Old Marco Lodge which has a new name I can't recall. Generally, the Goodland direction will be less traffic and calmer waters, plus better access to the good fishing which is in the 10k Islands SE of Goodland.

Look for C o o n Key Light outside Goodland and head west to access the Cape Romano Shoals and dome houses. Just stay in the channel - some oyster bars out there.

This time of year I pull my boat for maintenance so don't have any fishing tips - always snapper in the mangroves for the kids. Trailer parking you could check Calusa Marina in Goodland.

Not aware of the new bait shop - when did it go in and what's the name?

EDIT- I don't know why I posted this question - I answered it with a quick search in about 15 seconds.

For the record, the shop is Marco Island Bait & Tackle.

From Marco, you will have excellent access to shelling on Dickmans and the islands South as well as excellent fishing in the 10000 islands.

Use the public boat ramp at Caxambas pass. They also have bait. Its a wide ramp and a decent amount of parking. You can follow the markers around the back side of kice island and back into to Goodland then around under the bridge on Big Marco River. By then you'll be ready for a Grouper sandwich at the Snook Inn. You can also Use the ramp at Caloosa island marina and they will let you store your trailer there. At least the used too. They are good people. I have stored my boat there before. Its a fun trip to make the trip up to Naples. Lots of great back water and for night time fishing hit docks with the snook lights on.

Great info. Thanks. No real pref on restaurant location, but a couple water accessible places would be good to know.

Head over to Isles of Capri, it’s a nice ride and Pelican Bend or Capri Fish house are good options for lunch and a beer.
