Default Official Abacos Thread 2021

Seems like enough people are planning to head over this summer that it makes sense to resurrect this thread.

I think having a central place to share plans, what's open, what's recovered, etc. would be helpful.

We're booked for Elbow Cay July 10-17th, may extend it a few days or try and sneak in a trip to GTC for Memorial Day if the weather is good and there's availability. Hope to see people over there.

I hope that we are past the COVID-19 testing requirements prior to this summer.

Looking in to making our first trip over this summer. Researching accommodations and places now. Taking my 35’ center console.
Looking like 6 of us my wife and our two kids and my brother and his girlfriend.

I don't think that is going to change by then. Even with them it's not too bad. We take our test at CVS - no money out of pocket. Usually have our results in 72 hours. Get the health visa the same day and we are off by day 5 to the Abacos.

I can tell you places are filling up quickly.

We have our first trip booked for 6/5-6/13 in GTC. Can’t wait to get over there. Leaving out of FPI. It will be our first crossing but seems pretty straightforward.

I've never been to the Abacos and I'm dying to go, but very hesitant now since I've read that most hotels and marinas have not been rebuilt. And, how about fuel, restaurants, etc? Subscribed and eager to read what's open and how feasible it is to make it over there this year.

it's a one of a kind place. different islands with different vibes and all good people. i hope you get the chance to go, it is very much worthwhile. sounds like Green Turtle and a few other islands are significantly more rebuilt than others.

We went last year. Firefly and Abaco Inn both had power. I'm sure some houses did too but can't confirm.

Depends on where you look. There were never a lot of hotels in the Abacos to begin with. Most folks stay in rental houses.

Green Turtle Cay is almost 100%
Guana is up and coming
Elbow is up and coming
Marsh is a ways off but is improving daily.

Where do you want to go???

I'll be over multiple times this year thankfully...

If you see this boat, cart or dog say hi -
