Default Marathon Deep Drop

Ponce Inlet regular. Haven't deep dropped many times before. I'm down in Marathon right now. I'd be willing to venmo someone for a coordinate or two for some Tilefish. Typically I'd spend the time to figure it out but it looks like tomorrow is my last day on the Atlantic due to wind.

Be aware there is a significant area called East Hump off of Marathon where bottom fishing is prohibited. Here are the four corners of the prohibited area:

FYI Bluelue Tile are closed only Golden Tile are open. Not easy to find without good numbers or a lot of time on the water.

I am not sure of what other areas may be closed. As to the source of my information, the handwriting on the paper I posted is that of the FWC officer who pulled me over and was nice enough to write down the coordinates of the 4 corners of the closed area. I hope that is a good enough source

I posted this before in another thread. Guy at RV park where I'm staying went out Deep Dropping. Went to the East Hump area for Queen Snapper. As they were motoring around to locate spot, out of no where comes the FWC in a big ribb. Boarded him and first thing he did was check GPS. Told him area was closed and being that he was not fishing yet, only looking but set up to fish, would write him a warning and that the feds would be contacting him. Pointed out closed area on GPS and the chart he had. Got off and went after another boat in the area. He said that from now on he's researching the closeuses before going out. Going to need a lawyer soon to go fishing,or at least a notice of closeures on the VHF.

Is this place closed for all fishing or just deep dropping?

Precisely why I've just about stopped fishing in South Florida. You need a lawyer to interpret the statutes, a marine biologist to identify each species, a bail bondsman on standby and a buddy on land to put up the bail if you screw up.
