FWC boat accident
#1

I didn’t see it posted anywhere, so I thought I’d share.
An FWC freshwater biology crew were involved in a boating accident in West Palm Beach yesterday. 1 biologist killed, 2 injured. I knew the one that died, as I was a biologist prior to moving to LE.

Kyle is a good friend, words cannot describe the pain he and her family must be going through. This is tragic for many, and my heart is heavy for all involved. RIP.

I'm sure the report will be available once FWC completes the investigation. Since this is one of their own, and lots of questions will be asked, I'm sure they are doing their best.
I've seen that the operator and another passenger were both injured and hospitalized which means that Dana was a passenger and not the operator.
I suspect it will be operator error, however it's possible there was a steering failure or malfunction. Either way, we'll have to be patient, but even knowing the "why" doesn't lessen the pain of her loss.

Unfortunately I saw the crashed boat right after this happened. That’s a fairly tight canal area with bridge pilings and concrete on both banks of the canal. I’ve seen those boats go through there crazy fast before in front of the airport. Extremely sad a life was lost.
