Where do you keep your boat in south Fla boca/lauderdale??

Moving to the area. Really wanted a canal home for a boat but seems safe areas like lighthouse point to deerfield canal homes are 750k- 3 mill. Even east of RT 1 Pompano is that way. Was looking into Lauderdale Isles but been told its sketchy there and parking a 40pc Formula cruiser would not be a good idea there. Called into marina 1 and pennfield etc. $1000 plus a month is just not an option for boat storage. So what are affordable options? Was thinking of a 450K priced boca home and getting something trailer-able but where can you park say a 42 Ft fountain thats close enough to drop in and go for a ride and come back? what are the rates for land storage areas in south fla?

Homes and a trailer need a setback that will let you tuck the boat behind it and be aware of total height limitations the city may impose. Look for no hoa. Trailering a bigger boat in boca or ft laud isn't too bad. They're everywhere.

Gill Isles, Ft Lauderdale. 22' foot at the dock on the canal in the back yard, trailer in the triple driveway in front along with the 15' skiff on its trailer.
Still room for 5 vehicles to park in the drive. No Hoa. So what's the problem here?

Bunch of <300k 2 bd condos up in Boca/Delray where you can get a slip for $5 or so a foot. Couple of big boats at their 'boat house'. Right off the ICW

I have both in water & trailer stored boats, for that size you are probably $500-$700 a month on trailer, more $ closer to the water but it will not be all that close, that real estate close to ramps is expensive, not enough $ in renting trailer spots near the water. In water in a decent area close to ICW & inlets, probably $750-$1k per month

What we did was find neighborhoods on the water with the access we wanted in Ft Lauderdale. We posted looking for dockage flyers with pics and size of our boat on and tacked them up to neighborhood phone poles. We got 8 calls in a week. If I recall we paid $250 a month for our 40' express. But the guy who owned the house probably gave us $50 a month in beer when we came over. LOL

We worked those things out before we came to a deal. In our case my BIL and I realized we did not want to be a regular fixture, but we did go over and clean the boat and do some small maintenance. The guy we rented dock space from was awesome. As far as the guy kicking you out at any time, yeah, I guess that's possible. In our case we where there for 2 years. Lots of folks that live on the water, that do not have boats, and don't plan on having one.

You're not going to find a lot in Boca for $450k, or really anywhere around here that's not west of 95. Also, be aware that they're sticklers there for keeping a boat/rv that's visible from the street in Boca.

Kept our boat and trailer at a U-Haul on Powerline and Sample for about a year before we moved to Pompano. I believe it was 40' long and about $250 a month. Outdoor storage with a security gate. Worked for us.

No issues...had my trailer there for 5 years and my boat has spent many a nights there while I work on the dock or it needs service. Guy lives on property and has a few dogs roaming around. You get a gate code and can get in and out virtually any day other than Thanksgiving and Xmas
