Anyone with knowledge... is that helo pulling away a ‘oh shit’ moment for these rescue swimmers or ‘welp, this is gonna mess up my dinner plans’ moment.

The latter, some have remained behind in much worse situations. What would have concerned me would be the time between the helo departing and the arrival of the CG boat while the swimmer was floating around. Having the fixed wing overhead provided monitoring and radio comms with the swimmer until he was recovered would have been standard procedure.

Can't imagine floating around, battling those kinds of seas and wind for 6-7 hours at night, by yourself.... Takes a special kind of person. God Bless them!
