These idiots hand feeding sharks right out in front of Jupiter 7 days a week do far more damage to the sharks they pretend to protect than a highly regulated commercial fishing boat does. Train wild apex predators to lose their fear of humans and eventually they must be put down.

Then the shark lovers steal a working fisherman's gear and post it online. He had a NOAA observer on board and was totally legal. Geniuses. Lock em up.

Good for them. Can probably make some shark rigs out of all that thick mono. Probably the Chinese making dinner soup to cure erectile dis-function!

How is it legal to long line in 90 ft off Jupiter ? Not trying to be a smart ass just thought it would not have been legal.

This guy is doing the Lords work. He has a federal permit and has a federal observer on the boat anytime he’s fishing since they are doing research with certain species of sharks. None of the sharks go to waste. In fact he and the observer tag and release any tigers caught.

Don't you normally stay around your gear when it is set? Didn't notice someone else pulling it?

I haven’t commercial fished in years and we just had hand crank or bandit reel permits. Not LL or trawl gear. I also don’t know what his permit states as far as length and number of hooks. Some LL can be 30 miles long (I’m sure his is nowhere near that) but he also may have been setting another shot and coming back to that one.?

Should be a felony if the gear was legal. No different than robbing lobster traps.

Agreed, legal is legal. On a personal level I don't have a lot of love for LL's. Indiscriminate, rape & pillage, cut up undersized fish for bait ect. ect., meanwhile the rec guys who's numbers grow year after year are forced to split shares until we only get a few days a year to keep fish.

That's a pretty broad brush for the commercial guys. Try using a roller next time. -10
