Default Capital Taco

Anyone else around the Tampa Bay area hooked on their food?

The one in Land o Lakes is a twelve mile drive, but the wife will run by there after work and bring us a bag home. Which she will be doin today. Yummy...

Some of the freshest and best flavored tacos, burritos and bowls I have eaten!!

I've eaten at the original in Austin where they are top rated, best fish and shrimp tacos ever! Didn't know they had migrated some Florida locations, hope they get down my way. Thanks for the heads up

There are 2 around the northern Tampa area that I used to stop at when I was traveling. Good "new age" Mexican food for the region but that's not saying much. I have struggled to find great Mexican food here in Florida.

There's one right around the corner from my home. I've eaten there but wasn't too impressed. Good but a little spendy for taco's. If you want authentic Mexican, the best I've found is in Homestead, El Toro Taco. Owned and operated by some Mexican migrants for a LONG time. Make their own corn and flour tortillas on site. My office in Homestead was 2 blocks form this restaurant and was lunch a couple times a week. (Just checked their website and it's marked Permanently Closed) I guess COVID did them in. Maybe I'll have to try Capitol again.

I don’t mean to make you feel bad but the Kithcen at el Toro Taco was the dirtiest and nastiest around. Not only was it dirty but the conditions and storage of meats and other foods was disgusting.

On the other hand, Casita Tejas which is just up from where Toro was is pretty good but more TexMex. They are also have a sister restaurant in Pinecrest called Guadalajara which is good. The real deal in the Homestead area is in Florida City called Rosita’s on Palm Drive and an easy stop on the way to the Keys ... not easy with a trailer so look where you will park before going. They have an open kitchen which is nice and the food is authentic Mexican.

Yup, that Capital location in LOL is pretty good, close enough to get takeout and be home in 5 minutes. Pricey for tacos but a good variety that you don't see often at other places.

The 2 in St Petersburg went out of business. Not good here, maybe better where you are.
