Having coffee here breeze still looking ok with wind finder showing less than foot and 5kts or less. Little heat lightning over the harbor over the Punta Gorda Cape coral area but weather radar looks good. Loading up shortly and heading out as soon as can. Will be heading to first hole at about 20 miles out and hopefully can limit there. Have a buddy meeting me there in his boat so good luck to all tight lines and be safe. Will have radio on 68

The weather and seas were fine yesterday. The fishing sucked and it was hotter than hell.
Made the mistake of going NW up off Bayport 50 to 60 feet. Short gags little RG and a handful of decent mango's. The grunts were a PITA mango fishing. Probably caught 100.

While I love to boat, these few months are just too TFH. I was out last week in the Gulf and there was no wind, the water is 88 and I am not liking it. Weather has been unpredictable lately. Storms are unbelievably strong when they come through. Finally these weekend we are back to a semi normal wind direction/late afternoon shower pattern.

Well it was diffentitly hot as hell today. Left out just before sunrise ran across
the harbor and out of Boca Grande. Heading SW to cpl holes that were out at 20miles. My Buddy pulled up in his Epic Bay boat just as we arrived. He was going to meet us as he doesn't go out often that far unless me or another person are out and forcast is flat.
So put him on some numbers he fished within 200ft of us all day we were in about 70-80ft water. Both boats picked up multiple short fish in the RG, lots of Lanes some porgies and a dang pesky shark that kept circiling the boats lol.
He ended up boating 4 nice keeper RG out of the 3 guys they had on board.
Wife and I ended up keeping 3 nice RG
We all headed off the water about 1pm as we had to be back for a 4pm dinner
Watching the lightning and wind now over the canal
Hoping to head back out in the morning winds look ok and about 10-20% chance of rain play it by ear.

We got out a little deeper to around 180'. Picked up 5 nice BFT' and a smallish wahoo. Couldn't bottom fish out there without dragging ARS' up. Gave up on it and just spent the day trolling. At least we had a 10 mph breeze all day. Seas sucked coming in with a solid 2-3 north swell. We did mange to get in before the deluge of lightning and rain hit up here.

Fished 100 ft west of PAG left 6 pm Friday. Was gonna head for the peaks at 3 am but was tired. Had a boat roll on my spot at midnight. Thought was FWC. Dickheads. Left and was making my way but where I wanted to troll was 70 miles. Wasn’t up for the task. Mangos were funny had all kinds of bait and squid in my lights. Had every bait possible but only thing mangos wanted was the live sardines underneath the boat. We were able to sabiki them and toss back down live. They didn’t want dead cut in half etc. they wanted live ones. Was home by noon sat with minimal fuel burned.

Sucks the fish were not cooperating. Lately at night we have been spending more time netting and sabiking those squid. They eat better than anything in the Gulf in my opinion. I also catch 90 % of my BFT at night on them.

Trip was a little slow for us Friday night, but we scratches out an OK box of a dozen or so mangos, few lanes, some throwback ARS.
Started slow with some Atlantic spotted dolphin following us around eating bioluminescent squid as they ran out from under the boat, enough squid to almost black out the sounder, followed us around for an hour or so. Coonskin cap helped turn the tide after changing locations. 30 miles out so didn't run deep this time around. We had a boat roll up on us Saturday at a public spot, 20' away from us, thought they wanted to raft up. Asked if we were leaving, "We are now!"

Nice work guys.
Went back out today to about 20 miles out boated two keeper grouper lots of lanes
when I was taking boat from my dock to the boat ramp, One hell of a storm blew threw charlotte harbor blowing so hard sand was flying everywhere was a mess thanks to guy that gave me a hand.
Only **** up of the day was leaving an 8ft VHF antenna up during all that and hearing it hit the first tree damit. Bent the mount bracket took pcs of the top of the antenna off and split the top so guess I need to find a bracket and antenna for my 2 week old boat first **** up lol.

Saturday was awesome offshore. Sunday we drove up to Bayport and I went free diving my first time. Fish are fast and the current is stronger than I thought it would be but it was a fun learning day.
