Default Marathon trip

Headed to Marathon Aug 15th looking at going to Cay Sal. Have read a thread on here the fishing and lobstering are amazing but looks like you have to clear customs both ways is this true?

Any advise on people that have made the trip would be helpful.

Search Cay Sal. Several threads. One a few days ago labeled Elbow Cay. Yes. You need to check in at Bimini or Cat Cay first and check in when you return. USCG and RBDF are watching and several have been caught. Bring $10k cash if you really want to risk it as that is what it will cost you to get your boat back if caught.

Yep have to clear customs or be prepared for a huge hassle and a lot of wasted money. Not worth the risk

I think travelling anywhere out of country has it's risks right now. The rules are in continual flux and it only takes one LEO to ruin your trip.

Because it it the LEO's fault!!!! Research and follow the rules and you will never have a trip ruined by law enforcement.

My point is that the rules are in such flux that even the most honest LEO is subject to interpretation, particularly when it involves social distancing and quarantine. Sorry your toes got swollen.

Guess you should state your point next time instead of taking cheap shots at law enforcement. LE has taken too many lumps recently, I will defend their "toes"!!!!

Not much need for interpretation if you want to fish Cay Sal:
Have proof of negative current covid test for all on board
Passport
Check in at Bahama Customs
Purchase license/permit
Fish Cay Sal
Check in with US Customs on return

The rules are easy, following them will cost you thousands of dollars in time and fuel.

TO THE OP: Why not just run the Gulf to the Tortugas?

No cheap shot, just your interpretation. I hope your constipation clears up soon.

Thanks and some wanted to get drone footage and free dive for lobster. Seems like a different trip then this time. Thanks for the heads up!
