Been living in Central Florida for over 30 years and never heard of this restaurant. Had friends take us there last night and was blown away!
Very cool place set inside a grove of viney trees. Food and service were fantastic! Pretty crowded so expect wait times.

Garlic is a great restaurant. There are a number of others in NSB as well. Very economically priced. NSB is somewhat hidden jewel on the East Coast of Florida

If ironworker says it...mark it gold.
NSB is not only our home port but a place close to my heart. Here is present day thoughts of restaurants and things to do that I save and modify on my phone over time. New Smyrna things to do:
Bait:
38 Live Bait best deals good supply good vibes
NSB live bait Owns shrimp boats so usually have shrimp (next to Merck’s restaurant order wings to go)
Places to Eat:
Bagels
Garlic
Jb’s
Two dog eats or whatever
3rd wave
Oceans
Manzanos subs
Clancy’s Mexican
Limoncello fancy
Caffe Vesuvio’s pizza
Outriggers for yuppie good food and sfl vibe but way better
merks tavern for wings and frankensauce and it is a local dive bar (not that divey but has pool tables and ciggy smell)
So Napa for Italian and they deliver
Ice cream Treats on the Beach and frozen gold on 46 on way home
To Do:
Rent bikes
Rent golf cart
Rent kayak
Rent jet ski
Turtlemound
Clamming
Plane flight over Nsb
Surf
Shuffleboard
Tennis
Hub art walk on canal
Bowling
Go karts port orange
Rent boat
Fish
Shrimp
Marine science center
Winter shrimping full moon
Summer shrimping with cast net
Flounder Gigging

Lol at frozen gold, I have never met a local that goes there. And it’s yellow dog eats, which is a chain, and not a good one. Local pearl is a gem, if Danny is there, he’s a great guy. Bakers table is very good as well. Wake up cafe is great. 3rd wave, manzanos is great. Sasaki is amazing sushi, little hole in the wall but crazy good.
and outriggers is flat out terrible. Also, don’t discount the subs from mon delice. What is bagels? Bagel world? If so yes

Only if you consider two locations owned by the same guy and with an original scratch menu a "chain". Their menu is largely sandwich and pulled pork derived but it is very good for what it is. Agree with everything else you have said. I would add Yummy Asian Noodle to the list as really great Chinese (since the new owners).
