Default Fort Lauderdale snapper fishing

Went out a few weeks ago nothing but small lane snappers and mangroves. Is chumming pretty much a necessity? Going to try butterflied ballyhoo this time in addition to the squid and shrimp on a jig flat lined. Any pointers?

Chumming is a definite must, find some good reef bottom , current and pray the fish come . The reef fish will eat almost anything fresh , use small hooks and free line the baits back as well as some baits on the bottom. good luck
