Default St Lucie Inlet Bottom Fishing

Im dragging the boat and family down to Stuart for 2 weeks and want to get on the bottom fishing pretty heavily... any recommendations on tactics and areas I should target? Not looking for numbers, just looking for advice on what works down that way this time of year and the depths I should focus on... if you wanna give me numbers... my PM box is waiting!!! Lol

I have been inshore fishing the FPI area for a decade on and off, just now getting into the deep water stuff with our 24’CC. Hoping to put the kiddos (4 of em!) on some fish for the cooler.

thanks!

There is a fishing report here for that area. You can go back to the beginning and learn a lot from it. Lots of public reefs and shipwrecks with the numbers posted online. Also watch Darsyzzle on U tube she is mostly out of that inlet.

If it’s anything like last weekend, you better bring a lot of lead. I don’t bottom fish often, but I do deep drop. We could barely hold bottom with 6lb in 300ft.

Read through the report post, some good info. Hoping to get on some muttons and grouper if we can find em! If not I will settle for grunts and vermillion. May just troll the ledges looking for fish while monitoring the side scan and sounder to find live bottom.

Are the AJs plentiful in the reefs? We love vertical jigging for the reef donkeys.
