Default Middle Grounds Trip

Headed out to the Middle Grounds last weekend for an unbelievable weather day and some great fish. Spots were hit or miss but we got some nice ones. I did a short video of the trip:

No fishing Rods?

Nice fish but that's a long run for a couple of 30 minute dives.
Also some nice shots. I was surprised a few of the fish took off after you absolutely looked to have stoned them.

Water and seas looked nice!

Yeah it was a dive only day. We each did 4 dives and didn’t throw an anchor so tough to fish on a one day trip without cutting back on dives. And the new moon current was ripping. Anchoring on dives would not have been an option

That’s some wild bottom. Is that what the whole MG looks like or a couple of select spots?

The good news about making the movie is the movie maker gets to put in whatever music they want and edit out the bad shots! In truth, I like all kinds of music but if you get something to popular, Youtube blocks the video. So I look for something that works for me that isn't likely to get taken down in a few months.

There is a lot of bottom that looks like what's in the video. We're diving the tops at under 100 foot but it steps down or cuts down to 130 in places. Cool structure to dive. Better when we find the fish.

How many tanks can you carry on the Prowler? Looks like 8 on the transom rack.
Thanks

I've had 24. 8 on transom. 3 in each of the 2 fish boxes, 3 in each of the midship boxes and then I have a sea Sucker 4 tank roll control that I mount on the back of the leaning post. This particular trip we brought 16.

16 tanks

Now I see why no rods. I suspect 4 divers and that would burn the entire daylight with dives and surface intervals.

Impressive. Considering a 31and I carry16 also. Think 4 tank holders could be mounted along each gunnel somewhere between the fishboxes or would that be too restrictive on walkway between gunnels and console/leaning post?

That's exactly how it went. If we only have 2-3 divers, we would all dive together and bring some non-divers and anchor up and fish between dives. But 4 or more divers and we can two team our way through 3-4 dives each. At least in the summer we can.

Nice video

Do the black mats leave marks on the boat? Do they want to fly up when running?

They’re heavy restaurant mats and don’t move at all. We take them on and off with each trip and no marks. Saves a lot of dings from tanks guns stringers

I wouldn’t but there is certainly enough space where you could. The gunwales may be too high though as they get higher as you move forward on boat

If I am seeing correctly, someone broke off a shaft in that hog and it swam away to get shot again?
