Default Chub for a week with kids

Iím considering booking chub in the next few months. I have two small kids 8 and 4. We will fish a bit but not hard core.

my question is whether thereís enough to do there for the family for five days or so. I know people run up to the northern berrys for day trips etc, blue holes etc.

any color would be great because that place is expensive and I donít want to pay for a massive headache with bored kids and poíd wife. Thanks.

I think you would be better off staying on Great Harbour Cay even though the accommodations at Chub are luxurious. If you are able to book the Carriearl for the family, that would be great. There are other options for house rentals to check out on GHC. Even GHC is pretty low-key so you might want to consider Harbor Island although it is a bit further.

I agree with Miamijay. Chub has a good marina and fishing, but is expensive without a lot to do for the kids. Great Harbour has more for the family. I would wait to book, not sure when they will really be open or the restrictions on travel.

Mine would be bored
If I'm bringing wife and kids, I go to the Keys and they drive.

My wife and kids prefer the Bahamas over the Keys, just not Chub. Cape Santa Maria is my kids favorite spot on earth. Hawaii is second.

Rhumbum ... Iím about to pull the trigger on one of two houses on Tar Bay Beach. Please tell me more about Cape Santa Maria which is due East of Tar Bay. A friend of mine has a house on the water at Stella Maris and Iíve considered Long Island so tell me why thatís your kidís favorite place on earth.

My impression of Long Island ... good people, 0 crime. Big enough where you can drive around when the seas are rough. Island is still a little barren of tall trees from the last storm, but they will grow back. Bone fishing is excellent. Huge numbers. I have 2 daughters and a son. They love the beach at Santa Maria. Beautiful and perfect for kids to relax, run, paddle board and swim. Quiet. Most beautiful beach Iíve seen in the Caribbean. Females like the facility as it is spotless with good food. I have a plane, so we fly over for 3 day weekends. 2.5 hours from Orlando each way. I have a friend who built and owned on Long Island for 10 years. Sold it for a profit. Only complaint he had was he didnít use it enough. Good luck!

if your happy hanging around the same pool for 5 days is what youíll get in chub. I go there a lot and fishing can be dead if you donít hit the right conditions. The hotel and docks are great but not much else to do. I would suggest some of the other spots mentioned above.

Are you traveling there with your own boat? There's not a lot for kids to do at Chub, but why not book Great Harbour Cay and also a couple of nights at Chub? Chub is a beautiful place. Rent a golf cart and explore the island to the north. There's a completely isolated, desolate sandy beach where you can hang out and you won't even see another person.

That was my original plan, but there's not much for rent in GHC at the end of July/first week of August. We'd need a place for two boats and two families of four, or two separate places.

I donít think the Bahamas will be open to tourism in summer. I would not put any money down on a reservation.

Absolutely true ... I knew there was a reason I liked it so much.

However, if you rent all 4 rooms, Marty and Angie might make an exception.
