Default Selling our condo and buying an RV lot

We are fixing to put our beach condo on the market. We love the keys and figured before we looked at conventional housing we would see if there is any kind of RV type lots available down there. We have a lot in the ga mountains set up for an RV we have plans to purchase a motor home.

our kids are planning to move to the keys in the next three years. If that doesnít work out we will probably just look somewhere on the east coast between Ft Pierce and Jensen beach. Do any of you keys guys have any specific areas I should be looking at?
as usual any and all input is welcome.

I know it's not for everybody but every time I drive past one of the Keys "campgrounds" I think 'That looks like hell on earth and the farthest thing I've ever seen from camping'.

Just buy a mobile home on a dry lot in a community with boat ramp. Keep a small boat on the side of the mobile home and no need to buy an RV. You can get a nice one around 250K. You can also rent it out when not in use and it will probably break even while paying off the loan.

We have a 37’ fifth wheel now. It’s not camping it’s glamping. Wife and I still want to travel and see the country.
I have a Grady white marlin no way we’re downsizing the boat. So I need to find a place that will accommodate it.

Hello, There is a very nice class a only resort in Port Saint Lucie, the name has changed since I have been there so I don't know what it is called now. It has everything clubhouse, three pools, golf course and Mets winter ballpark couple block away.

I have looked at this option myself, put a nice fifth wheeler on a lot with a hurricane damage home tap into the the current sewer is the only hard part. Personally I would look at from about Hawks Cay to Key largo for a nice buildable lot and only do the sewer and water connection maybe a shed or go the damaged home route if you find one.

Default RV lot

There is a small community in key largo called manatee bay or manatee something canít remember. He rents it to me once in a while, itís an RV lot but they put in a park model. They have pool, private ramp and itís very nice place.

here are some pics from last time I was there. I plan on getting an RV lot in the future as they are cheaper to maintain since I donít want it to live, just wanna go on weekends.

good luck on your search. Iíve looked at a place called calusa as well but seems like a larger subdivision.

You should spend some time time down in the keys. Each area has its own unique characteristics and there are different benefits depending on where you choose.

We bought a place in Marathon. It’s centrally located and shopping for necessities is more convenient.

Key West is nice, but too touristy for us. It’s also a party town. We’re 60yo, not looking to stay out all night.

BPK - You have to look hard to find the nicer areas here.

Upper Keys - Not far enough south for us and more crowded due to its proximity to MIAMI.

Lots of nice areas, just need to find the area that meets your needs. We’re all different.

Over the last 40 years I have spent quite a bit of time down there. They have changed a lot. I worry about the in flux on the weekends from Miami.
my family originally back in the 50’s came from ft Lauderdale Hollywood area.
I haven’t been in the keys for a few years now. My son and his family want to relocate down there and noway were letting him and family go without us.

I would say 500 grand would be very top of our budget if we sell both places we have now. We would need something on the water with accommodations for the boat. Islamorada Or farther south preferably.

To get a decent nice place with water access your looking at $750k. If your looking for a trailer then maybe less but upper keys are expensive. Mid -lower keys 550k can get you a nice place. Been looking for a while.

There are quite a few dead canals on BPK. And many homes on the east and southeast side have terrible seagrass smell
