Default what does this summer look like in the Bahamas?

With the Abacos still far below normal capabilities I was really thinking the Exumas and other points would be jammed.
When the Bahamas opens up, I'm not so sure. I think the COVAD damage will keep people away for a variety of reasons. Less money, busy getting their jobs and businesses back up, people dislocated, charters cancelled and so on.
Generally, I think peoples plans will be jumbled.
Is anyone here rethinking their trips assuming it's back on by the end of May?

the Bahamas has taken the extortionary measure of closing their borders. They were already hand to mouth from an economic standpoint. I sure hope folks will continue to come to the Bahamas and spend some money. The Bahamians desperately need it.

I’ll be there the moment it reopens but I think there are a lot of vacations that will be turned upside down.

Tough. They needed tourism $ to get back on their feet. This certainly hurts. I understand the border closing. Healthcare scarce in the best of times there, they don't need a pandemic.

We cancelled the last week in April at GT but may try later in the summer. Kind of a wait and see.

Right now my marina is still open. I wouldn't be surprised if that changed by the weekend. I've had to cancel one trip so far...

March – Las Vegas Cancelled

May – Bimini trip 99% certain cancelled

June – St Maarten trip 75% certain cancelled

July – Marathon trip 50/50

Spanish wells in June for two weeks! Gotta happen for my fam and happy to support the islands.

My buddy who lives in Costa Rica is hunkered down with his family at their farm BNB near la fortuna and said it is not really very cool right now very scary with lack of food and people just freaking out. All valuables collected and with them and hunkered down in a way and for reasons I don’t believe most Americans can even envision. Praying we get back to normal before anything like this remotely occurs. God Bless America.

We normally go to Exumas and other out islands. This year the plan was to go to Long, Cat and Crooked... maybe a few other places. My thought process is that a lot of Abaco people are going to venture to the Exumas... and turn the chain into a giant Staniel. Yuk.

We plan to still stick with the plan unless the government says we are not able to do so. As long as fuel is there, I will be. I find the people on the more remote islands to be amazing and if I can help them, I will.

I’m not too worried about Exumas saturation, hotels/docks are scarce down there pretty much eliminating the CC crowd and the Nassau tour boats thankfully don’t stay long. I’m with you about the Staniel $hit $how, unless I need fuel or supplies we avoid.

Skipper Gentry opened a new lodge on Andros. Check out Spooner’s Bay Lodge on North Andros. I believe he has a dock at Morgan’s Bluff. Hopefully the borders will open sooner than later...

I have a trip to Lucaya middle of May. I bought trip insurance through expedia in case weather for crossing kept me at the dock. Who knew it would be a pandemic that kept me from this trip. Due to all the cancellations they won't even allow for cancellation unless your trip is within a week. Who knows just maybe there's an outside chance I won't have to cancel.
