Default Florida Keys Shut Down

Wife mentioned that the governor is closing hotel stays and keeping all short term vacationers out of he Keys. Has anyone driven through a road block or seen this to Bethe case? Will out of state home owners have to prove ownership to get to their properties in the Keys? Is everything like gas, takeout, groceries still accessible? I was thinking of working from home ...in the Keys...

There are going to be a LOT of unpaid rent, mortgage, car and utility bills in the keys in the coming months. Hope the average service worker can hold on until the tourists are allowed back.

Pirate Radio KW was talking about an entity that has $$ to give/grant/loan ?? for relief for this to locals who lost their jobs and needed $. I don't know anything about it but I'll bet their phone was ringing off the wall.

I always thought that home was where you live most of the time/year, have mail & bills sent to , address on drivers license, etc

The Keys is NOT closed to non-residents. There are restrictions on bars, restaurants and accommodations but that doesn’t mean that The Keys is closed, just that there isn’t a whole lot to do.

Have family that are in the Keys for 6 weeks in a rental in Marathon this time every year. They were told two days ago to vacate the rental (3 weeks early) and leave Monroe County, that they had until today to comply.

At some point, I would suspect there will be some great deals on some of the waterfront mobile homes in the keys.

The "deals" sold very, very quickly to people that had cash in hand. And they weren't exactly "deals", in my opinion. I bought a house in June 2018 (even though I've lived in the Lower Keys since 1991). I was always "this close" to being able to afford to buy, Irma kinda forced my hand.

they can say whatever they want and pass whatever directive...at the end of the day there is no teeth behind it to legally enforce it
