Well that’s fine. By the time my vacation in June rolls around, all us mainland zombies will be cured and the Keys will be pristine.
Think how many black grouper will be around with nobody there catching them!

They need to stop new yorkers flying into florida. I think right now we are ok, but that is definitely going to add a ton of fuel to a small fire

I am reading. What’s your point? The decision to close happened today so my comment was correct when I posted it.

OFFICIALS TO RESTRICT TRAVEL ON FLORIDA KEYS OVERSEAS HIGHWAY (U.S. 1)

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is implementing southbound checkpoints at MM 112.5 on US1, and on Card Sound Road (905), to reinforce Monroe County’s closure to visitors and non-residents no later than early Friday. Only residents, property owners, and those actively involved in work in the Florida Keys will be admitted, including fuel tankers, delivery and grocery trucks.
  • Proof of residency can be demonstrated with a resident re-entry sticker, local identification, utility bill, deed, lease, or tax bill.

I will report back on the status of the Conch Republic border crossing. I live in Key Largo but commute to the mainland and am still working out of the office as I am classified as "essential personnel." I'm working nights so I'll be headed south this morning and tomorrow; then Sunday, Monday, Tuesday morning. I'm all for the stoppage of everyone in Miami coming down because all of their city is closed. As the tourists were leaving, the stores were cleaned out pretty good but grocery shopping yesterday wasnt too bad.

Private planes are still flying into airports like Witham Field here in Stuart directly from NY. There is virtually no way to determine who these people are or if they are infected.

I was more speaking about the extra 100 commercial flights that were added to s. Fl. And orlando over the last few days. Many more potentially infected on those flights.

Not really worried about a single private flight here and there.

Anyone make the transit today across the road blocks? What kind of delays did you run into as you headed south into the keys?

There are no roadblocks. I just got back a little after midnight, was as far down as the 81 in upper mat and there was virtually no traffic. The checkpoints are scheduled to start Friday at 9:00 AM. Those with resident decals will use an “express lane” at the checkpoint on US1 and all others will queue in line to tell their story or show other documents in order to be considered for entry. The other checkpoint will be on CR905 near Carysfort.

Any idea where I can get the decals ? Called the Sherrifs office and they said they were closed, phone only, and were not giving them out.

Thanks

It is a 1 way checkpoint, from what I have read. Southbound near Florida City. You can use your DL to get past it. and of course there will be exceptions for any
Military, medical, workforce, transport supplies etc....

It is prohibited by the US Constitution'sCommerce Clause, which gives the federal government the power to regulate interstate commerce, and the Privileges and Immunity Clause, which prohibits states from discriminating against citizens of other states. For example, what if Georgia did that during a Hurricane, denying Floridians entry as they were attempting to evacuate.

So, what will prevent arrival by boat if I want to run over from Goodland?
