Question Boat ramp closure?

Reading about beaches, marinas being closed... Makes me wonder if ramps are next. What do you think?

Doubtful. No large crowds and closeness.

My wife and I have used the local ramp as the starting point for our social isolation to go shrimping the last three nights.

Only if the media induced hysteria reaches the tipping point and we are locked up in our homes by force like China.

I'd say they probably will close them seeing how ramps are attended by county/city employees. Same goes for LEO and CG. Hopefully they don't go as far as to actually closing the gates etc and it is just no employees on site.

Pasco parks are all closed to most. There is no staff on site. The boat ramps as of today are open but no facilities or common ground areas are open.

I suspect you will soon see the gate locked at most facilities in many areas.

Just got off the phone with them and no warm and fuzzy feeling from the lady I spoke with. There are tons of inshore guides that use these facilities around here. Cut their access off and no need to worry about the loss of visitors coming to the area. I am willing to bet 90% of inshore guided trips in the Tampa Bay area originate from a county/state maintained boat ramp.

Park ranger was cautiously optimistic I'd say yesterday that they would stay open, but also reminded us that he only covers 1.5 days a week there and there are no guarantees. Made me wonder, looks like I'm not alone. Glad we used the boat at least for a couple days if they do end up closing it.

The unknown is worrying me.

I'm not optimistic at this point simply because with no support and oversight many pigs in one place will cause a mud hole.

No bathrooms, no trash cans or any sort of order. It's much easier to lock the gate. Most ramps are a circus with the minimal presence of municipality workers. The free for all will ruin it. Most folks don't care.

Not around here yet. The topic is boat ramps that are mostly operated by the state or county. Marinas are privately owned and most don't have public access boat ramps or any ramp at all.

The VERY few privately owned ramps for access to salt water in this area would make a killing.

I hope to not find out.

Go to the equipment auction. Buy a flatbed boom truck. Weld your trailer frame to the bed. Launch most anywhere now!

( Aaaaalmost did this a few years back with a 17’flats boat).
