Default Suzuki outboards delay

Any one else delayed on your new Suzuki re power? I guess I mistakenly assumed you order a 140 outboard in Florida and it shows up a day or two later ready to be installed....

Might depend on the model? My dealer had my new 150 in a week back in November.

Have you called Outboard Specialties or International Marine ? I'm pretty sure both of them have a large Suzuki inventory in stock .

Outboard specialties should have the engine you need or maybe not. They are the top installers around here.

Their Distribution center is in Plant city I believe. the 140's are a popular motor and they move a ton of them. When I repowered with them the dealer placed the blame on the distribution but I am not sure that was the issue. I think the dealer was playing catch up on some other things and placing the blame else where

The 140 is readily available and I have them in stock in white, both 20" and 25". Not all dealers actually stock motors so once you pay the dealer then they order it, some need to prepay for motors and it takes longer rather then having an established credit line with suzuki where it can ship same day sometimes. Suzuki deliveries to a dealer usually take 2-5 days depending on warehouse.

The plant city warehouse is only a parts distribution center, the motors ship out of atlanta or LA.
The practice you mention happens way to often and dealers blame suzuki for problems that are dealer caused and this gives suzuki a bad name. It happens with parts, motors, warranties etc..., majority of problems are solved at the dealer level.

Any idea if Suzuki is experiencing a delay shipping motors currently?

Just tell us what dealer you're talking about. This happened to me many years ago.

I was told 2 weeks and it turned into months...my fault for trying to save a few bucks at International Marine. Outboard Specialties had them in stock the whole time ...just as they do now.

What model 140 are you looking for? white/black? 20"/25"?
I can look at suzuki inventory and tell you right away. They are not experiencing delays at all but your particular model could be backordered. Tell me what you ordered and I will look up.

Black 25" is available as well as white 25" from suzuki, I just checked the live inventory with suzuki. I would say your dealer is giving you the run around.

I accepted the quote end of January dropped the boat off a day or two later and as of the Feb 18 I don't think they have the motor yet.

This is sounding more and more like International Marine. If it is, take this opportunity to get your money back and take your boat to Outboard Specialties.

I accepted quote and dropped my boat off 2 weeks later on the date of appt. I was told for weeks and weeks that it was on back order and it would be any day. Then they finally got the motors and still took another few weeks. Finally got my boat back and they did a crappy job. Didn't silicone dash panels, left things undone and didn't give me the correct props. Won't get into more details because you can find my thread (and many others) on this website....if the mods haven't deleted them.

Even if it's not IM, it sounds like they're jerking you around...get your money back and run. If this is the start, who knows what else they'll put you through.

As you can tell by my posts, I'm very passionate (if thats the right word) in regards to this subject/situation. It's a terrible feeling to go through that crap and I don't wish it on anybody.
