Harlan, in the second photo, is that a "juvenile king" between the 2 Spanish macks? Often juvenile kings have spots and look almost identical to Spanish.
Cost me a fine 2 years ago when I had a 22 inch juvenile king onboard that I swore was a Spanish. FWC hit me hard since min Spanish is 12 inches but macks are 24 inch min.
Nice king being held by the lady. Capt. Billy/Right Stuff

Nice king.

We don't get ceros in the big bend that I have ever seen. Kings and Spanish though, but very few people even fish for kings.

Capt Harlan worked his way out of some dicey seas and put us on a bite in the channel that never seemed to stop....it didn't help that my gaff was stored under the RV we were in....and not in my boat!

Several other nice fish had pulled loose at the gunnel. Others gave a nice hit and run and managed to get off.....but we always seemed to have something biting..

He did us well, and we had a great time....we got a version of the Keys mackeral slam.....Spanish, Cero and King....

You got nothing to say about a great day of fishing....but did I get enough to eat...??

Jack and I have spent more than a few hours on the water fishing together....and we both look forward to see what Barb has brought along to fix us lunch with....needless to say Jack, she didn't disappoint..

Thanks to Kelley, she saved the day...!

This is funny when us old guys (not you, Eric) are as interested in what we are gonna have to eat as much as what we might catch....

That sounds great - never had smoked king before. But I have smoked spanish mack and it was amazing.

As for cero sashimi - yeah, I could definitely see that. I did spanish mack sashimi/sushi once and it tasted fantastic.
