Default Fall Red Snapper Season

I got an email from FWC yesterday stating that red snapper opens back up in the Gulf for the next three weekends. Iím a bit surprised that I found out relatively last minute. Did anyone else hear about this earlier? Anyone going this weekend?

Full moon this weekend. How does that impact the daytime ARS bite? Our track record on daytime, full moon bottom fishing is pretty poor. Would a night trip be more productive?

I saw some real nice ones diving last week in 60'. It was pretty spot dependent but I dove all the way out to 90' and didn't find any bigger out there.

No kidding. I will likely just leave Friday around 10pm and get ours at midnight. The snipers will be out full force all weekend and I don't plan on giving anything away. For kicks and giggles I should pick some random sand humps in 80' and just circle them with my dive flag up as big center consoles go by.

Hell I'd go as far as wrapping wire through a AR's eyes hooked to a swivel. Start slinging a few fish over the side in 80'. That'll get them running over to ya. I'll be sitting on the sidelines and watching the reds come in the next few weekends.

What site do I need to go to for me to find this great weather window? All my sites that I follow show a snotty 13-15 MPH wind and 2.3 offshore? I hope I'm wrong....

Thatís actually pretty nice for the GOM outside of TPA. There will also be a lot of other boats out should you encounter an issue.

I'm somewhat familiar with the waters we speak of, was actually out yesterday on a perfect weather window to harvest dinner for some family in town. I just hope Ricks site is spot on and mine are wrong. NOAA is looking good so i'll keep my fingers crossed. I just don't want to run 40-60 miles in 2.5'.....in your boat its probably a lot more peaceful.

On 2-3í days I let the wave direction determine where Iím going to fish. Itís supposed to blow out of the NE so I will run parallel with them heading NW. We have the luxury up here to have good structure in just about any angle out of Cedar Key.

You are in a perfect location for that wind. Good luck!
