Default Best months of the year to purchase a boat in Florida

As a new full-time resident living on the Gulf side of Florida, I’d like to know what time of year do you think is the best to make the best deal on the purchase of a used boat?

Since many people in FL seem to be part time residents and leave the state by April, does that mean midwinter gives you the most options and leverage?

Please give me your thoughts or just state the facts…

Thank you.

That would depend on the used boats your shopping for.
Used freeman= no difference
$5k boat, I’d look between thanksgiving & Christmas

Usually December through March . Best deals have been before and after boat show when people get serious about selling,

NOW until about March. FTL boat show is in NOV I believe and that kind of marks the beginning of Yacht season end of small boat season. Miami boat show marks the beginning of the boating season.

I'll say Nov 1 - Mar 1 is when you find the best deals. Looking back I think most of my "amazing deal" boats were right around thanksgiving. Usually the boat has sat unusued for at least a month by then (sometimes 3), family commitments are coming up, up north it's legitimately cold, people are thinking about xmas spending, etc, etc

Im on the east coast and there isnt a best month. Guys want to sailfish during the winter, dolphin fish during the spring and fall, summer is for their kids and sandbars. You find a deal do it. My current boat the seller wanted to sell in the spring, and I wanted to buy in the spring. We took a feeler ride in November and I said lets cruise out 3 miles and do a deal today. The first person that looked at the boat was going to buy it. I had no choice.

September/October to February/March. However, end of March and April the prices take off.

It is very important that before you buy your boat you come on here and post how crazy used boats prices are and how stupid the sellers must be to expect to get that amount. Like mentioned above FL has an all year boating season.

If your in an area that has a lot of Snowbirds like Cape Coral, the dealer are less likely to deal during season Dec.- April. They know the snowbirds come down with pockets full of cash, or they just want a boat. Don't care about a deal. When I was looking I found that May-Oct was when I got better price quotes. Dealerships are slower with sales, the only down side would be inventory. Some dealers don't stock as many boats during that period because they aren't as busy.

X100! Finding a used boat is easy. Finding a nice, well cared for and maintained used boat ain't easy, so be ready to pull the trigger if/when you find one!

As others have said in Florida our season is year around so deals pop up all the time. But the common thought process is it’s best to buy in the winter.
