Finally it is official and I can now post what I have known for the last month. The Asplundh family will be operating Bimini Sands beginning August 1st. Finally after a year of chaos we can now celebrate the beginning of a new Bimini Sands.

Is that the same company/family that has the racket with all the towns to cut the trees? I always thought they were the Waste Management of the tree business.

Yup. That's them. Deep pockets. Likely a good thing for the Bimini Sands.

Sounds fishy to me. So they are just going give you 20 M in upgrades while not hitting you with assessments? They need power and mosquito control and a czar to prevent all the fraud that has gone on there for ever.

Well lucky for you you're not a home owner so you have nothing at all to worry about.

Well, well. well. Now I know exactly who you are. Sorry things did not work out the way you planned. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.
I will not bother replying to your thread anymore just not worth my time.

Is the sand bar and restaurant included in that or is that a separate entity ?.

Talking about Mackeys sand bar and the Sqaure grouper, wasn't sure if that was part of Bimini Sands or not. If so that's great news.

You sort of peppered it with the brag that you knew a month ago when it was in the paper in April that it was cooking.
BS has a TON of potential. But you’ll need so much pest control that I’d be afraid of getting lymphoma from the pesticides you’ll need... and I’m only sorta kidding.
15MM plus another 20MM... so 35MM? Yeah... firvthe marina and surrounding common areas?
So if he wants a 10% return, it needs to met 3.5MM a year?
I don’t see that.
That family didn’t control the municipal arbor contracts by being stupid. They’re up to something.
When I was there in July most units were empty or beaten. My understanding is that people are selling at a loss of 25-50k.
The only way it makes sense is if they can control the units.
You can make the marina 3x the size... great, and what do all those people do?

Definitely sounds promising. As this new owner is an investor (I assume) and not providing these upgrades for altruistic reasons, what’s the plan for the return on investment? Hit owners with special assessments, raise maintenance monthly fees, upgrade units and raise rents where the management company takes a bigger chunk, other?

I’m not an owner and don’t ever see me becoming one but I am a big supporter of Bimini and am always cautiously optimistic about any new plan which has the potential to improve the island for both visitors and residents. Having spent the last 40+ years going to all parts of the islands, I’ve learned a long time ago to not get too excited about press releases but prefer to take the wait and see approach, very very rarely do things work out like the press release over there. Hoping for a big improvement for all of Bimini
