death wish if it's only 49cc. I drive a ton of miles in the keys every week and I barely feel safe in my truck.

I'd say 10 out of 5 drivers are hammered on that stretch during daylight hours and 15 out of 5 when the sun goes down. Your call. I'd rather be on the boat.

Get your man card punched at the toll station and have at it. I'd never try it just because of standards and whatnot.

Lots of big boats on big trailers on that road....

There is a pretty good bus system in place thru Monroe county.

There is also a lower keys shuttle system.

I used to work at the Walgreens in Big Pine. There was an accident there at sugarloaf school where an elderly couple failed to stop their RV at the light and hit a motorcycle killing both on the motorcycle. I used to make the drive from Marathon to Big Pine everyday for work. Drivers are too distracted looking around at the scenery, or too much in a rush, it's a bad combination. I really wouldn't feel comfortable in anything other than a car/truck and keep your focus on the road. Also, lots of head-on collisions, keep your lights on for safety.

You driving the scooter is not the issue, it's all the other yahoo drivers that will make your scooter their issue.
Scooters typically can't even go the speed limit and if it does, that won't be fast enough for most of these people.
They will want you to get out of their way and pass in the worse spots possible either forcing you into a difficult spot, off the road completely or worse, causing a head-on wreck with multiple fatalities.
Happens all too often and I wouldn't ride a scooter on that road any more than I would a bicycle.

Good choice.... plus if it’s a rental from Key West the contracts say they can’t leave Key West.
