Odd Bahama's question from wife....

Can we bring food? From experience traveling to other countries in the past (via airplane) bringing food items, especially fruit, was prohibited...is it the same in the Bahama's? Should we only have ice and drinks in the cooler, or can we pack it with some food/snacks to have while we're there? I told her that some people will stay on their boat in the marina and I presume cook some food, but did not know a definitive answer. Anyone have experience that can tell me one way or the other?

If arriving by boat, you can bring all the food you need.

I Just got back From Lucaya Sat and we took a container with some oranges, limes, lemons, peppers, and Cilantro over. Gotta make Ceviche! Took snacks and steaks for the grill as well. Cooked and prepared most of it in the courtyard of the Sunrise resort (Running Mon) or on the boat. I just put it all in a huge tupperware container with all the spices and condiments for sushi as well and leave it in a cooler. Works out well.

When you fill out your customs forms for the ship stores dont itemize everything. Just write "basic ships stores"

I take cooked ribs, put them on the t top for 15 mins. Warms them right up.

I treat it like camping take everything you need.
Donít run out of alcohol. Beer is $50 a case. Ice is pricy too. Look up koolergel on amazon

Iím not passing judgement or calling you out but itís illegal to bring oranges, limes and lemons to the Bahamas. We had to split our bushel of mixed citrus with the agent when clearing. :o

As Miami Jay stated.
I wouldn't be advertising that.
Kiwi Mike has it correct. "Ships Stores".
For all you others, it's illegal to bring fruit in the US Also.

thats why you bring just enough that it fits in the container.....and you declare food and booze for Crew only. I specified nothing.......just food and booze for the crew. 😏😎

I write N/A on the ship stores section and have been doing so for years...
We bring burgers, sausages, steaks, etc.... Stuff to make other meals other than just fish...
Never had an issue. We've brought 12-15 cases of beer before too with no problem.
