Default Duck Key Area

Wife and I and another couple are headed down to Duck Key for a few days. Any recommendations for fishing? Tarpon? Bone Fish? Or if this is not a desirable fishing area maybe SCUBA? This is our first trip to the area so not sure what the must do's are. Not as interested in offshore as fishing shallow water. Thanks in advance.

Fishing the bridges would be my recommendation. Get some live shrimp, pinfish or pilchards if you can. Tarpon, snapper, jacks and sharks. You Pretty much never know what you will catch around them. To the north is long key bridge or channel 5 bridge. To the south there are other options as well. Definitely want to anchor becaus the current Rips through the bridges.

I hear the yellowtail are showing back up in 60-90 foot of water
on the reefs. I would definitely be going offshore if I were you (assuming you can be convinced and your
boat can go offshore). The dolphin are thick 600-700 feet. I just got back from hawks cay on duck key about a month ago. Caught seven dolphin the day we went offshore.

Hit the reef just south of duck key for scuba and spearfishing.
