Default Best deal on 300 Suzuki in SE Florida?

I am about to pull the trigger on a repower. We are set on a 300 Suzuki. International Marine is at about 19k plus tax for a rigged engine, along with removing my current engine and rigging. Is there any other place in South Florida worth considering?

Take my word on this. The cheapest isn't always the best. Highly recommend Outboard Specialties as they are #1 dealer in South Florida for a reason.

Outboard Specialties by far and away the best guys to deal with. I've always dealt with Mike Lardani. I'm on my 4th 300 from them. Bought 1 at another dealer to save a bit and realized that was a mistake pretty quickly.

Currently repowering with them and have no gripes yet.

Another vote for Outboard Spec. I bought 300s from them a couple of years ago and a 50hp for my small boat. Great to deal with both times.

Thank you everyone for the referrals. That is our main form of getting new customers and it means a lot that we took care of you all good enough to send more customers our way. As some mentioned the cheapest price is not usually the way to go, there is a lot more to a repower then just a motor price and our reputation proves that.

Keysnole, I believe Trent has spoken with you already and working something up, if you need anything else or have any further questions please let me know.

Thank you for the referral and I hate to gloat but we are the Largest Suzuki repower dealer in the World. I am proud of this accomplishment so I don't take it as gloating, lol. Great customers, a great crew, and a great product helped us achieve this. Thanks again!!!

My eyes glaze over when I see threads like this.

I wonder how it is that my experience at Outboard Specialties was so horrible (charged for work they didn't do, made me pay for something they broke because they didn't know how to fix it, overpriced, and had the boat for two weeks for the honor).

International Marine was exceptional (low price, great communication, went above and beyond)...

Sure makes you wonder.

It's odd you had a bad experience with them. They did a repower for my brother last year and it came out great. He originally had a deposit with IM but they kept pushing back the install date. He had vacation plans and a deadline so he called OSS and they had it done in 4 days. (which was quicker than IM's original install date) They service my friends charter boat with 225's and he's always in an out in a day or two. They have always helped me when I call for questions.

OBS did my boat. I am very pleased! The Mike's are great and I enjoy seeing them at the shows.
IM did my friends boat. He says the same about them.
Nick's did another friends. He says the same.

The key to a good relationship is support after the check is written.

I'm not here to throw stones but good to hear you had a positive experience at IM. The couple grand I saved there caught up to me later.

I have had nothing but exceptional service with OBspec. Repowered with 250's and never an issue with service or questions being answered.

I wish I had that experience. I remember it took forever to get anyone to reply to me and once we were at the two-week mark, I was able to get some information. It turned out that they weren't very familiar with the work they said they could do and damaged an expensive tilt cylinder - by their own admission, they broke it. But somehow thought it was ok to charge me "just the cost" for the item they broke. I still don't know if I dislike them more because they asked me to pay it or because I paid it. If I could go back in time I probably would have said "no". Then it got thicker. One of the items I went in for was to have my lower unit seals changed. They couldn't do half the job (didn't know how)... but the bill reflected that they did all of them. They hemmed and bitched about removing that from the bill.

I just didn't care for the way they handled anything. The repair, the duck and dodge in not getting it done, etc.

Then, for some reason I thought -- OK... since I didn't out them on THT (at first) I'd try and see how they'd do with a repower quote. They literally wrote a "quote" on the back of a brochure that wasn't exactly very detailed. LOL. When I went to IM, I got a detailed quote, in writing to my email in about 30 minutes. I was still at the boat show when the quote came over. The best part is that my buddy had the same repower... and the boys charged me more -- that's AFTER I kept my yap shut about their screwing me. That's a heck of a "thanks".

There's so much more. I needed a engine module reset/programmed in a hurry... I figured after they squeezed me $xxxx for half-ass work, they would try to make amends. Ha. They didn't even return my call. IM fixed it the same day. For free. I tried to thrust some $$ in their hand and they refused. They have their big advertisements, and I know Suzuki corporate loves them... but it just never smelled right. If I'm the biggest prick, hardest-to-deal-with guy around, why would the "best" not be able to make it right (after about 4 tries)... yet IM found it so easy to work with me?

A good operation would have never charged for what they broke and would have never charged for work they didn't do. But if they did, and I didn't out them, they would at least realize that they had another shot to save-face. They didn't.

Timing I guess.

But it's clear that people like them. I have several friends that swear by them. I guess I got them on a bad day(s). LOL.

I got quotes from all the guys mentioned on here and then some and I went with Palm City Yachts in Stuart, being the best price...2016 DF300.

When I was in the market for a repower I shopped all over Florida and NOBODY could come close to the price of International Marine on my 300. Their install and service has been awesome as well. I can't recommend them enough.

Same!! They were the worst of any of the dealers I had experience with getting a quote. There was no way I was going to give them my money.

International Marine did the 300 for me. They did a great job and will use them again.
