Default Clearing Spanish vs. GTC

I've been reading that some people are waiting an hour or two to clear customs at Spanish. I always thought Spanish was one of the quickest places to clear, but maybe the secrets out.

Have anyone cleared at Green Turtle? Where's the customs agent? Black Sound?

Anyone have any preference?

Thanks.

Interested in this, and also clearing options at Grand. Bahama's website has a list of entry points: https://www.bahamas.com/faq/official-ports-entry

Green Turtle Public Dock is listed with a phone number 242-699-4045; dock location is here. Not sure where the actual agent is, https://marinas.com/view/marina/wgce...Cay_AB_Bahamas

For Grand these are listed:
  • Grand Cay Public Dock 242-357-6656 (cell), 242-353-1365 (office)
  • Little Grand Cay, Rosies Place Marina
At Grand can I just call up Rosie's on the radio and check in through them?

I was just in GTC and I'm pretty sure Customs is on Parliament street, almost right in the center of New Plymouth. I remember its a pink building.

We cleared on Spanish on Sunday 6/3 and did have to wait awhile...there was a hold up because one boat had guns, so the custom agent had to go out and inspect. Then just as she was about to get to us, a plane landed on the airstrip there and for whatever reason, the plane got priority. It wasn't that big a deal and she was clearly going as fast as she could...

More and more people are clearing at Spanish and it does take a little while if there is a boat or two ahead of you. That being said, your whole crew is allowed off your vessel and can go into the bar for drinks and food. The above post regarding GTC is correct, customs is on Parliament street almost dead south of the public dock (2 minute walk, if that). Technically no one except the captain is supposed to get off the boat, but we've had them call the whole crew into the office before. Usually a round or two of Goombay Smashes from Mrs. Emily's end up on the boat while we're waiting. I have no idea how they get there though Honestly it's six to one half a dozen to the other.

We have cleared in Spanish, GTC, Treasure, West End and I prefer GTC. Park at the public dock. Take the paperwork up to the office. Crew sneaks off and goes to Miss Emilys and in an hour we are enjoying the cool pool across the harbor at Pineapples!! Nothing beats it after a crossing.

I think the Spanish deal is you get $50 off the inflated customs charge if you eat and drink while waiting.

We did one night in Spanish last year on our first night and all in with 60 gallons of fuel it cost four of us $1480 plus get in fees! Pricey night!
Fun times....

I cleared at GTC a couple of weeks ago. Got in late and they were closed so we went to the marina and started the party. The next morning (Sunday) I went to the office with everyone in tow and we filled out the forms, paid our fees and headed off. I had the main paperwork already filled out so it only took about 5 minutes.
Nice friendly guy and helpful with questions.

There is a new Customs Lady at GTC and based on my conversations with her over the phone yesterday and last week, and also on comments made by friends staying right now that cleared in a couple weeks ago, she is not friendly.
Also she told me she will not let any center console boats carrying firearms clear in at GTC unless they are ready to let them take them until you leave to go home, regardless if your console locks or not - FYI.

I had planned on clearing there again this year but may clear in at Spanish.

Bastards at Spanish cleared us too quickly. We were only on our second round and just ready to order!
