Default if you were to leave Key West? where should it be?

Been contemplating leaving the keys but want blue water fishing, possibly golf for wife, easy to get to, preferably a small condo with dock where you could rent out when not there. This would be for 4-6 months a year, I'm going on 68 time to scale back but not wanting to give up the good salt life. Any ideas?
Thanks all ideas appreciated.

If you don’t mind gulf fishing look into Naples.

Stuart, Palm City, or Jensen Beach on the Treasure Coast. The blue water is just offshore, plenty of inshore fishing opportunities when it's blowing offshore, the Bahamas are only 72 miles away, and all the golf your wife can stand is right on your doorstep. It's a win-win!

I spend a bunch of time in the Sugarloaf / Cudjoe / Summerland area and wish I was there full time. I live in the Stuart / Palm City area and agree it is great up here.

Do you mind running way off shore for the blue water? Otherwise South Florida is your best fit.

Palm Beach Gardens or Jupiter fit your bill with blue water and lots of golf.

If you don't mind a run, then Marco, Naples, Sanibel and the Sarasota/Bradenton areas.

Not wishing any ill will but pushing 70 it's also nice to be close to medical facilities if needed and all these areas offer far more than the Keys.

Naples was built for us- I am your age. More golf than you can imagine. Fishing not bad. Very nice people.

Jupiter. Although I love Stuart, those Lake O discharges are still are a real threat.

Not sure the reason you are asking for suggestions actually came through there.
Get that you are 68 but what does that have to do with leaving Keys?
Too busy? Too expensive? Too many a-holes from Miami? Too high a chance of a cat. 5? What's really behind your interest?

I can think of a great place but it may not solve all of the potential drawbacks you are seeking to avoid.
Or are yu just looking for a change of scenery?

Yep, after 5+ years of splitting time between Lauderdale and Key Largo, really good 'health care' was a run up to Miami at least. I'm sure it's better near KW.

Stuart/Martin County: There is a brand new Cleveland Clinic being built there. A big one.

A friend needed to be rushed to the big hospital in Stuart were she received excellent care for a stroke. Never had to go anywhere else. We had not bought anything in Martin County at that time, so we kept a very close eye on the care that our friend received there. Had dinner with them the other night at 'Prawnbroker' in Stuart and you'd never know she'd had a stroke.

Ill throw some odd balls out. Hernando Beach, Hudson or Crystal River. You'll be close to the Village's.

Add Homosassa to that list, but I wouldn’t move to Hudson if you gave me a house there.
