Default Seas are building for a West End crossing Memorial Day weekend...

and I caught my wife shopping for plane tix this morning. It's looking like the price of beer and ice is going to be the least of my worries.

Smart woman, and in the long run, better for you.
Women and bumpy crossings usually don't make for a great weekend.

She flying and you're running over or you both flying and just drinking Kalik and eating conch all weekend? Nothing wrong with that. I expect to see Lake Boca and Peanut Island busier than usual, maybe we can do a THT gathering.

Amen brother. I pushed through what I felt was only a slightly rough ride from SWFL to Marathon last year with my wife perched on her beanbag, on top of a lounge seat, and I still have not heard the last of it. (no pics available at this time, sorry. That would put the nail in my coffin for sure.) So, imo spring for the plane tix and consider it a good investment in your peaceful home life.

As long as long as the forecasted swells don't get any worse, I may be running over and she and kids are gonna fly.

This is not encouraging (from the NDBC):FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT
East winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 4 to
6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet.

Looks pretty unpleasant for crossings to Bimini from South Florida starting Wednesday evening into Saturday, with easterly winds from 15-20 mph, with periods going as high as 30 mph. You can expect 4-6 foot seas, with some 8 footers in the Stream and running into a head sea for 50 miles. Not particularly dangerous for a good solid boat 30 feet and up, but who wants to get the crap beat out of you. Yesterday morning was the day to cross over. Timing is everything, and the wind always seems to blow on the holiday weekends.

Just cut an Exuma trip short by 3 days due to this incoming weather. Almost glass flat the whole way back to G.B.

We were over in lucaya last weekend from ft pierce. Beautiful weather the whole time. My buddy is leaving again this Friday taking his kids and grandkids for the week from ft Pierce. Hope it lays down some . He is running a 46' post fly bridge with a tall tower and that sucker likes to rock n roll.

Just noticed the tropical system up north east of the Bahamas, closer to Bermuda. Any thoughts on that playing a roll on the sea state this far south in Bahamas?

You guys really believe it just calms down after a significant blow.

I see nothing under 15 knots and that means at best it will suck.

Assets may also be limited because every dumb ass with a boat will be using it this weekend.

I would rather go to Disney than be on a boat this weekend. And, I ain't doing either!
