Default Marco/Naples liferaft rental

Heading out 50 miles Friday with my kids and was wondering if anyone rents out liferafts? I found a place up North but that wont work. I have EPIRB and Spot but was thinking about renting for a few days. Does anyone know if there is a place near Marco? Thanks

I don’t know of anyone is naples that does this. Closest place would be Miami. Your best bet if you plan to do this trip more often and it is a concern is to just purchase one. But for this trip I would ask if anyone wants to buddy boat, ensure vhf works and kids understand how to use it, kids have proper life jackets, and then go have fun. Friday morning is going to be a little bumpy, but will lay down in afternoon so I am sure you will not be alone out there.

What kind of boat?

Iím right with you on this. Once a month or so Iím 50-75 miles offshore. I have all the safety gear except a life raft. Iím going to buy one. Winslow is based in Port Charlotte so repacks are easier without shipping. They also make high quality rafts. $2-4k investment.

I would call the nearest West Marine and see if they can point you in the right direction.

Got lots of bait for tomorrow, but 5-10 knots off shore is my limit.. Hope the forecast drops it back down to 5-10

You can get by without a life raft in warm water if you are reasonably close to land but why chance it? In rough water your odds are way down if you don't have it. Easiest to buy one so you always have it.

Check out the boemarine website, they are having a safety gear sale for the month of May. I just purchased a 6 man offshore commander for $1100. Weighs about 60lbs & easily fits in any of my deck boxes.

I understand the concern certainly having a raft would never be a bad idea, but I've never bought one despite traveling 90 miles each way to Marathon with my teenagers on board. I guess I always felt that the radio, epirb and life jackets were sufficient.

I'm curious how many do as I have been doing?

Going to just get one. Went 55 miles out today and although no issues it did hit me that I am paying 250 in gas but won’t spend $1500 on a liferaft. Going to pick one up in July before my trip to the keys.

This right here. About 8 years ago i looked at the limits i pushed and the time it would take someone to get to me. BOE annual life raft sale happened and i bought a 6man revere life raft. I hope to never use it, but it is piece of mind. I have had it packed twice now at $750 every 3 years.

For being local to SWFL, Winslow is a good bet. Repacks are done up the road an hour and half up into Lake Suzy. They do run specials during the boat shows on life raft pricing as well. I carry an 8 person raft.
