Default Suzuki Or Mercury Repower SWFL

Hey everyone,

Need to repower my boat or get a new Power head on my Honda, so I am going with the Repower . Looking to go with a 250 or 225 Suzuki. Also have been taking a look at Mercurys as well, went to Bass Pro Shop & surprisingly they were great guys and gave me a competitive price.

Looking to get some recommendations. Let me know! Thanks!

I have heard good things about Zuke's, but have no personal experience. I have had 3 boats powered with Merc's and have good things to say about them. All were Verado's - 250hp's and now twin 300 hp. They have run strong and dependable for me. I am a maintenance nut and have always been either exactly on time or before all recommended maintenance, and the motors have then done their part perfectly. If youdecide to go the Merc route, there is a Verado Owners Group online with great tips on doing your own maintenance.

Couldn't go wrong with either, service and support usually dictates the decision now a day.

I got my 200 proxs from Offshore Performance in Fort Myers... great guys, very good pricing. They had a bunch of new leftover 2018 250 proxs motors also.

I love the repower I did with the suzuki's, BUT, their gauges are a bitch to get programmed to what I want displayed on the gauge. I finally got it right but it took a long time and several rips to the dealer.

Sawyers in Naples is a Suzuki dealer and has a very good reputation. I've used them for Yamaha service and they were very honest and did great work.

Go across the state to International Marine for Suzuki. You will save money trailering over there. Quote difference was 6k between Fort Myers dealers (3 of them) along with international redoing your dash.

Wow! Worth the quick trip across the state. I'd have to pull the boat down to the Keys afterward for some testing

I have had both, Zuke 140 and Vrod 250. Never had any issues with either. Have a preference for Mercury, better local support and like supercharger.

I repowered in 2009 with Suzuki and loved them. Next repower will be the same.
