Default Part II: Remaining Connley Platinum Series Rods

Back with the remaining Connley Platinum Series rods. I’m blown away by the amount of interest here, a testament to the Connley rod reputation and the quality of their “Platinum Series” rods. Repeating the important data from my first thread because it all still applies:

These are Connley Fishing’s “Platinum Series” custom rods. They all feature Connley’s signature two-tone blue wrap that is just gorgeous. I’m ordering some new custom rods with different colors and specs and that’s the only reason I’m selling. These have a lifetime of catching fish ahead of them.

These rods are all between 2 and 3 years old. When they are fresh from the shop the colors are a very “blue blue”, but with some UV exposure they acquire a slight teal hue. Doing digital art and design for years I am pretty tuned in to notice these things, but it’s typical with thread colors under epoxy (and Connley uses the best). So while these are used, they are not abused and are in great shape overall. I’m a stickler for always rinsing with freshwater after use.

I’m pricing these aggressively and firm, but I would entertain offers for very large purchases. This is not a fire sale.

Feel free to come inspect/purchase these rods in person (Bluffton SC). I’d love to not have to ship anything if possible.

All prices are listed as “plus actual shipping” for any purchase. Last time I shipped rods, even a single one, it was minimum ~$40. If I over-quote shipping I will refund the difference.

I’m glad to converse regarding the action/best uses/reel matches/etc for any of these, but I’m going to start simple and list the rods and prices, and some links to the same or similar rods as they appear on Connley’s website if I can find them.
Scroll further down to see what’s still available, please.

The following pics are the popping rod. This rod has had probably the least boat time of all the “Platinum” rods in my set because it’s a specialty rod. It is almost ‘new’ in appearance, bright vibrant true blue. These pics were taken today in overcast drizzle conditions, not a full spectrum sun, and it still looks fantastic!

Still remaining:
  • 2x — 6’7” Conv. Phenix Black Diamond Hybrid Carbon Fiber 60-130 with narrow hard slick butt. Nice looking carbon woven blank (as shown in pics above). Skinny and light but a TON of power and perfect for pitching baits to Whitey. These sell new for $650. Lightly used at $375 each.
  • 1x — 6' Calstar Grafighter 50-100 — 2-piece rod but with black Fuji SiN guides and tip. (Obvious in pics above it’s the only rod with aluminum butt.)
    • This rod measures 55.5” from the tip to the end of the #2 ferrule when measured without butt. Measures ~71.5” with a Winthrop terminator short or ~73” with a Winthrop terminator standard.
    • Similar to this: https://www.connleyfishing.com/shop/...stand-up-rods/
Priced with your choice of butts:
      • $600 with a Winthrop Terminator #2 short butt (pictured)
      • $425 with an AFTCO unibutt #2 short curved butt
      • $350 with no butt
  • 1x — Platinum Series 7’ Calstar 700m Grafighter 20-50 — (longest rod in pics above) This rod does not have the x-grip, just straight hypalon without finger notches, but it is otherwise just like this one: https://www.connleyfishing.com/shop/...es-700m-20-50/ Same Fuji Silicon Carbide guides, silver aluminum Alps reel seat, and silver gimble. Selling for $350
  • SOLD — 2x — Platinum Series 7’ Spinning Calstar Grafighter GX-7 8-20 Mod action
  • 1x — Platinum Series 7’6” Popping Rod (Spinning) Batson 30-50 — $450 (very lightly used), SiC Fuji “K” guides, this is a ridiculously nice popping rod.

The 5 rods above are still available. Individual rod prices are firm, but feel free to make an offer on multiple rods or the whole set.

While I appreciate the interest, when I say “individual rod prices are firm” I mean, the price is what it is.

The custom popping rod would probably be $650-750 if you ordered one today, plus shipping, and last I heard Connley is *months* out on custom orders. This rod is in outstanding condition and I think $450 is a bargain. I am ok with not selling the rod at all. Please don’t waste my time and your time. If you want to purchase several rods or all of them, I would cut you a break, because it saves me a lot of time and hassle shipping out single rods.

Oh, and unless you see otherwise in this thread, yes, “it’s still available.” I feel like this place is starting to decay into Craigslist with all the “is it available” and scammer inquiries the past few months.
