I have a WTB ad up, and the only two PM i have gotten have both been scammers. Please, and I am not i intending to insult anyone’s intelligence, be wary if they send a PM asking you to text them on a phone number. They will then copy an old picture from an old site ad and say that is the reel they are selling. I always check their history on here first and it is always minimal. I will also google the reel they claim to have and it ends up that the picture was one of the top results. Just please be cautious. Stuart1g being one of them.

My rule of thumb is never buy a big ticket item off anyone who isnt in the admirals club and has a legitimate number of posts... I got burned one for $200 never again

I also was contacted by a scammer, username Paul875. He directed me to a gmail address to use for contact where the scam initiated. Thankfully did not fall victim

Yep- It's become an increasingly common problem & I wish Admins/Mods would develop a more proactive policy...

Paul875 got me for $330 for helm chairs. Has anyone had any luck recovering money sent via pay pal from him?My fault I know, but I’ve always sent friends and family.

So how hard would it be for this site to create another section dedicated just for scammer post for members to use as a quick reference check or to complain about scammers. Name it "Alert or Beware" other titles names welcome. Make it so anyone could access or post to see if the "scammers" login name is there and allow post like these from members to be posted in one place to alert honest/trustworthy members that you may be dealing with a possible scammer.

l would like for the super mods to respond why this is not being address or something is not being done to protect the legitimate members. If there is a legal reason why nothing is being done that would be appreciated as well.

They will do something about is when they lose money..They need to address how does moving a scammer post to Vendor Talk does anything to protect members from scammers when its not related to a vendor..What are the mods implying - vendors are ?...

Glad I just happened to read this post before I put a WTB up this week. I likely would have sniffed out the two scammers but my guard was up. I’ve loved buying and selling on here, hope it doesn’t get rampant.

Please feel free to push the Mommy Button whenever you feel there is a scammer involved. In many cases they are retread accounts with which we have an avenue to act.

HOWEVER - note that IB nor the Mod team get involved in ANY private transactions between members. It's just not what either IB or the Mods are here to do.
BUYER BEWARE> If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Do your due diligence.
And if someone is PM'ing you with very low or zero posts, that is a big ole red flag in most cases.
