Default Flat Coil Reel Leashes as low as <$10 ea

I know you have a lot of choices in what reel leash design you should use. While I hope that you choose ours, the most important thing is that you use something to keep your gear safe. We all have either lost a rod or know someone who has. This design is affordable, versatile, easy to use, and effective.

This leash is special because the coiled shape that you see is locked in using a heat treating process that makes the leash naturally want to stow in a compact shape. Additionally, the coil keeps the leash from sagging down into the cockpit. The leash material is 1200lb Lindgren-Pitman Primeline Mono. Both ends are crimped and the tails of the line are flared so that they cannot pull through the crimp under any circumstance (see photo). The line won't stain with fish blood and it won't catch hook barbs.

Each leash comes with two 1/4" 316 stainless steel carabiners. The larger looped end allows users to attach the leash to the boat via the carabiner or by passing the leash through the loop. If the carabiner is used, then either end of the leash can be detached when moving rods around, and the coiled shape prevents the leash from causing a trip hazard while shifting rods around. We have tested these to over 680lbs with no failures. We simply ran out of scale capacity to test any further.

All leashes are 6ft long, but custom lengths are available.

Trolling season is right around the corner for many of you. These are inexpensive peace of mind to know that you won't lose one of your expensive rod combos. We all know someone who has lost an untethered rod. Don't be next.

I re-tested all of our reel leashes. The scale I have maxes out at about 680lbs. All reel leashes easily made it to over 680lbs (scale reads "Err") without failure. These leashes are built to last and the entire system is proven to handle more than whatever load your runaway gear might put on it. I included a sampling of photos from the testing. https://www.nereusfishing.com/produc...sh-semi-coiled

Do the coiled ones get kinked up? Any colors besides clear?

None of the leashes kink. I suppose you could make a kink if you were really determined and used big pliers, but under normal use, then don't kink. It is possible to get a coil turned weird like on an old-style phone cord, but it just takes a few seconds to undo.

I'm sorry, but I only offer clear. The supplier makes light blue, but it requires an enormous quantity to get them to run it in light blue.

How do the flat coils lay? Is that like a coil of leader material? What about the carabiners any reason to go with the bigger ones or is that just for looks?

They lay pretty flat. The pics shown with the zip ties is how they are packaged, but that shape is set via heat treating and is permanent. When you clip the zip ties, nothing happens and they stay in that shape. If it has been stretched out hard all day, it'll take a minute to get back to that shape or you can just clip the carabiners around it and it is stowed neat and flat.

I use the 1/4 inch carabiners on this style because I am standardizing them to go into tackle shops.

I've been away a bit with shoulder surgery, but I built up inventory ahead of time and have plenty of these to fulfill orders.

Shoulder surgery caused me to dial it back for a bit, but I'm back to making leashes. This flat coil style is my favorite. Tested to almost 700lbs before the scale bottomed out.

Happy Tuesday everyone. I'm starting to get these into tackle shops around Florida and beyond so keep your eyes open if you want to see them in person before you buy.
